Actors and actresses put their bodies through a lot for their craft, but people often overlook the impressive efforts Rosamund Pike put into her role in Gone Girl.
It's been over a decade since the 2014 hit film hit our screens, but many aren't aware of the lengths Rosamund Pike went through just to get her character Amy Dunne just right.
Now, we aren’t talking about her bone-chilling performance alongside Ben Affleck, but rather the physical changes the actress made to her body.

Pike seemed to have channeled her inner Christian Bale, and had to lose weight and gain it again quickly due to the film’s extensive use of flashbacks.
The actress spoke about the strain the process had on her body, as it was integral for her character in the story.
Speaking to Vulture back in 2014, she explained she had to gain and lose weight a whopping three times.

She said: “I had to gain and lose weight for those scenes three times over! I had to be slimmer in L.A. and heavier in the Ozarks, and then heavier and slimmer in the studio, so I had to do it three times over.
“They scheduled around it, so I had two weeks each time for each fluctuation. It was quite intense.
“It was like turning your body into a chemistry lab, and I couldn’t escape it, the weight loss period. I took time out to get a pedicure, and Extreme Weight Loss! was on the TV. I was like, 'I can’t get away from it!'”
However, some fans, who have just learnt of the steps she took to lose weight, have pointed out a simple solution she and the team could have used instead.

One Twitter user commented: “They also could have just shot the movie in order of when she gained/lost weight.”
Another social media user remarked: “Movies shoot scenes out of order why would they make her do that.”
A third commented: “[Shooting when she] gained and lost weight is what every other movie has done.”

And another wrote: “[Filming] out of order, that's what I assumed they always did in these situations. This is madness."
However, others remarked that there may have been scheduling conflicts that prevented this, as well as a whole other range of issues.
But either way, it's impressive that Pike put her body through its paces to keep the film’s continuity intact.
