Chuck Norris up to do a Dodgeball sequel

A sequel to the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is reportedly in the works.

Chuck Norris - the man who has built a cult following for just being himself - says he's up for doing a sequel to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

A sequel to the 2004 comedy is reportedly in the works, with Vince Vaughn being set to reprise his role as Peter LaFleur, according to Deadline

Sporting comedy Dodgeball follows the story of business owner La Fleur (Vaughn), who is on the brink of losing his gym, Average Joe's.

This is largely down to a fancy competing gym called Globo-Gym, run by health nut White Goodman (Ben Stiller), who is about to put Average Joe's out of business unless Peter can raise $50,000 to keep his mortgage.

To save the gym, Peter and a group of Average Joe misfits enter a dodgeball contest with a big cash prize. In response, White forms his own Globo-Gym team to enter the competition.

Amongst the star-studded cast was Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Jason Bateman and William Shatner.

However, fans of the film will remember Chuck Norris' epic cameo.

The actor and martial artist had a vital 10-second cameo in Dodgeball by sitting on the judging panel during the final game.

His legendary 'thumbs up' ultimately helped Peter keep his gym-hopes up.

Surprisingly, Norris said he was reluctant to take the role until Stiller gave him a call personally.

Explaining to Empire, he said: "I said no at first because it was a three-hour drive down to Long Beach. Then Ben Stiller calls. He goes, ‘Chuck, please, you’ve got to do this for me!’."

Sending a helicopter to bring him to the set, Norris says he didn't even need to read the script before doing his part, which saw him 'did my bit where I stick my thumb up'.

Months later when the movie came out, Norris called it 'cute' and 'a little risqué in some areas'.

"But in the end, when Ben’s a big fatty and watching TV, the last line of the whole movie is, ‘F**kin’ Chuck Norris!’," he said.

"My mouth fell open to here… I said, ‘Holy mackerel!’ That was a shock, Ben didn’t tell me about that."

During a recent appearance at Nashville Comic Con, Norris was asked if he's going to be in the follow-up, to which he said: "I haven't gotten a call about it yet, but it'd be a lot of fun to make a return appearance."

Fingers crossed, then!
