Fans think Taylor Swift’s upcoming album could be savage dig at ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s group chat

Taylor Swift fans have begun excitedly discussing what details she could reveal about her past relationship in an upcoming album.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift gave her fans more than a little to talk about following her surprise announcement at the Grammys.

Taylor Swift fans were certainly in for a treat if they tuned into the Grammys yesterday (February 4).

Swift made history after winning album of the year for a fourth time, and also set tongues wagging when she accepted the award from Celine Dion.

Amidst all this, she also announced a brand new album, which is dropping sooner than you might think.

You can watch the bombshell revelation below:

During her acceptance speech for best pop vocal album earlier in the night, she said: "I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret I've been keeping from you for the last two years,

"Which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It's called The Tortured Poets Department."

She also shared the cover art for the album on her social media accounts, drumming up more hype for the upcoming project.

“All's fair in love and poetry," she wrote in the caption, signing herself the 'Chairman of The Tortured Poets Department'.

Now Swifties have grown used to the idea that Swift divulges the stories of her relationships in her work.

So, taking to social media users, many speculated that her new album could give the details of her six year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn.

The album’s title may in fact be a reference to a group chat that Alwyn said he shared with friends Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott called 'The Tortured Man Club'.

Alwyn let slip about the WhatsApp group in a 2022 interview with Variety - and now it might be coming back to haunt him.

“My roommate just told me that Joe Alwyn once said he has a gc with Paul Mescal and others called 'the tortured men club' so this is totally a diss at him I think,” one fan wrote.

“Apparently, joe and paul mescal’s whatsapp gc was called ‘the tortured mens club’ LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO,” another amused fan wrote on X.

“I’m actually so obsessed with the concept of this album already. 'All’s fair in love and poetry’ is giving ‘you treated me the way you did and it’s fair game for me to write about it,'” another excited fan wrote.

“[Alwyn] was apparently in a gc with Paul Mescal called tortured men’s club so I'm guessing he influenced this album, plus you’re losing me was written over 2 years ago so I think they were having problems for a very long time before they actually broke up,” another person suggested.

Despite the speculations, there is no clear indication whether Swift will be taking jabs at her ex-boyfriend.

A source, who previously spoke to the Page Six publication, explained that the couple’s breakup in spring 2023 wasn’t dramatic.

UNILAD has contacted Swift's representatives for a comment.
