Selena Gomez responds to health scare after fans are concerned by recent post

Selena Gomez has opened up to fans after they noticed tremors in her hands whilst she was applying makeup for a TikTok tutorial

Selena Gomez has opened up to her fans regarding her health after fans became worried following a TikTok video she uploaded for a makeup tutorial.

30-year-old Gomez has explained the cause of her tremors after a health concern was raised following the upload of a TikTok video where her hands appear to shake.

The actor-come-singer was met with comments from concerned fans who noticed her shaky hands in the clip where she is seen to be giving makeup and skincare tips to her followers. One particular part of the video showed the star applying micellar water to a sponge but her hands were shaking quite a bit.

She has since told her followers that the shakes are a side effect caused by her lupus medication, commenting on a now-deleted clip posted by a fellow TikTok user, saying: "Lol I shake because of my medication for lupus.

"Also read my disclaimer. I ain't no pro [laughing face emoji]."

Gomez, who rose to fame after starring in the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place, was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 - a long-term medical condition known to cause joint pain, rashes and fatigue. In some severe cases, it can cause hair loss, mouth sores and high temperatures as well as sensitivity to light.

Unfortunately, there is no cure at current, but symptoms can be managed and kept at bay with medication.

Gomez had to have a kidney transplant in 2017 as hers began to fail. Her donor kidney came from friend and fellow actor Francia Raisa.

Gomez spoke out about the kidney transplant on the Today Show in 2017, saying: "She [Raisa] lived with me in this interesting time where my kidneys were just done.

“That was it. I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life. The thought of asking somebody to do that was really difficult for me.

"She volunteered and did it—and let alone somebody wanting to volunteer, it is incredibly difficult to find a match. The fact that she was a match, I mean, that’s unbelievable. That’s not real.”

Gomez also thanked Raisa again in March 2021, writing: "Thank you for blessing me. I am forever grateful to you,”

Since 2021, Gomez has starred in the Disney+ comedy-drama TV show Only Murders in the Building which has been so successful amongst fans it will be returning for a third series this year.
