Priscilla Presley explains why she never remarried after Elvis

Priscilla Presley has explained the decision she made to not remarry after the death of husband Elvis Presley over 40 years ago.

Priscilla Presley has opened up about her relationship with Elvis Presley and why she never remarried after their divorce.

Speaking at a Q&A event at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas last Friday (November 3) the actor, 78, explained how she suspected the late rock star would react if she did remarry while he was alive.

During the event she also reflected on why the pair, who were married for six years between 1967 and 1973, did not have another child after their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.

“I just don’t think he could handle that,” Priscilla said of the possibility of remarrying while Elvis was alive.

Speaking on possible relationships after his death in 1977, Priscilla said she really didn’t have the desire to marry anyone else.

“To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire,” she said. “No one could ever match him.”

Priscilla also explained Elvis was concerned that he wasn’t spending enough time with their daughter. She added this greatly factored into their decision not to have any more other children.

“Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule, and he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn't around that much when Lisa was younger,” she said.

“With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn't around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child.”

Priscilla’s life with Elvis has recently been in the spotlight due to the release of a new biopic, Priscilla, that looks deeper into the romance between the two.

Speaking to TalkTV’s Piers Morgan last week (November 2), Priscilla highlighted the film looks at both the highs and lows of their relationship and life together.

She also praised the director Sofia Coppola for doing her homework on the couple's life.

“I mean [Coppola] and I, we talked about it, and living with Elvis Presley, people think, ‘Oh how wonderful, it's great, it's Elvis Presley,' but I went through the ups and downs with him in a very crucial part of his life.

"His ups and downs, his struggles, his fears, so when you are living with someone so famous, and you have been through it with them, it's that part of privacy that is hard to give up, it's hard to share.

"I don't want to give out too much because I want some of that myself, that's just for me."
