Nick Cannon hits back at accusations he's a 'deadbeat dad' because he has 12 kids

The comedian defended his decision to have a blended family the size of a football team.

Nick Cannon has hit back at claims he's a 'deadbeat father' because he's fathered a dozen kids.

During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the comedian defended his decision to have a blended family the size of a football team.

He revealed several of his 'lovers' were having fears over their biological clock during the pandemic and were concerned they would soon be unable to have kids.

"A lot of them are in the same age group,” he said.

“And I just wanted to give them what they desired. I kept saying, ‘I can handle it.’”

So really, he's the Robin Hood of impregnating women.

And now, as he is the father to multiple children with six different women, he's ended up with a nursery in his office building.

Let's just hope Cannon has invested in a couple of nannies as well.

However, Michael Goldman, Cannon's manager, who has worked with the star since he was 15, admitted that the TV host is the most 'misunderstood person I’ve ever encountered'.

He noted that Cannon is an extremely dedicated father and that he'll even bring his kids into meetings with him as a means to spend more time with them.

“I’ve been villainized,” Cannon added.

“I hear all the time: ‘You can’t be present for all those children.’ So therefore I get this deadbeat dad title. ”

But the 42-year-old acknowledged that it's his view on polygamy that makes him open for public scrutiny.

While Los Angeles Times journalist Amy Kaufman noted that the actor doesn't refer to himself as a 'polygamist', he admitted his relationship status is far from conventional.

However, he shared that all the women he's had children with 'know who they are' and knew 'what they were signing up for'.

He added that he would rather be in an honest relationship than be with 'someone who’s telling them they’re the only one but still f**k the neighbor'.

Still, when Kaufman asked if Cannon was still with any of these women today, he replied: “Because everybody’s so busy, nobody’s looking to have sex with me. Everybody’s focus is the children.”

Does that mean that baby number13 is on the horizon?
