Sharon Osbourne reveals poignant reason she didn’t end her life after husband Ozzy’s sudden death

The grieving mum of three has opened up about her desire to 'go with Ozzy' following his death, and revealed what stopped her

Sharon Osbourne has revealed the heartbreaking extent of her grief following the death of her husband Ozzy, as she confessed she ‘didn’t want to live anymore’ and only one thing kept her from ending her life.

The Black Sabbath legend died at the age of 76 back in July, after suffering from a heart attack amid his long battle with Parkinson's disease.

In a candid and emotional interview on Piers Morgan: Uncensored that aired on Wednesday, the Osbourne matriarch revealed that in the aftermath of her loss, there was just one key thing that stopped her from ‘going with Ozzy’ and taking her own life.

In the tearful interview, Sharon admitted that it was her children: Aimee, 42, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 40, who kept her hanging on and choosing life instead of succumbing to her grief.

“I would have just gone with Ozzy… Oh, yeah, definitely, I've done everything I wanted to do…,” she began.

“But they've been, they've been, excuse me, unbelievably, just magnificent with me, all three of them.”

Piers then asked: “They're the reason, and their kids are the reason why you’ve got to hang in there?”

The former X Factor judge then replied: “Years ago, when I had one of my mental breakdowns, I went into a little facility to help with my head, and there were two girls over there.”

“They didn't know each other, but they were in there, each mother had committed suicide, and I saw the state that these two young women were in and what it had done to their lives, and I thought, I will never, ever, ever do that to my kids.”

Although Sharon initially and quite understandably struggled with grief in the first few weeks, she revealed she has since made her peace with it, even going so far as to describe it as her ‘friend’

She explained: “Grief has now become my friend… It's very weird to me, you know, when you love someone that much and you're grieving for them, it's what I have to live with, and I'll get used to it. I will, I have to, you know, things move on.”

The couple were married for 43 years before Ozzy’s tragic death, with the loved-up duo having supported each other through multiple highs and lows in the spotlight, including battles with addiction and various instances of infidelity.

Yet despite the turbulent nature of their relationship, the couple were very much in love – and life without the self-titled ‘prince of darkness’ is still something Sharon admitted she was far from used to.

She admitted: “You know, each day I go, 'What am I going to do with myself? What the f**k am I going to do?'"

One way the star has found to ease her pain is to visit his grave at their family estate every day and to speak to the late rocker and share her thoughts with him.

“Everybody goes down there and has a chat with him,” she said. “I burn several candles in the house, which are always replaced. It's never without candles, by his pictures and just in the house.”

“It's an ache that you wake up with, and you can't get rid of that ache. It's like a big hole inside of you, and the kids feel exactly the same way, and it's just, what do you do? It's inevitable that it happens to all of us.”
