Priyanka Chopra Jonas has opened up about what she believes 'rubs people the wrong way' about her relationship with Nick Jonas.

Age gaps in relationships remain a contentious topic, with many social media users loving nothing more than drawing attention to age gaps in certain celebrity relationships and arguing what age gaps are okay or not.

And this is something actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas is certainly no stranger to, her relationship with musician Nick Jonas having faced far more than its fair share of scrutiny over the years, with many obsessing over her being 10 years his senior.

The pair have faced comments about whether their relationship is about to 'implode' despite them having been together for eight years - getting married 'within six months of meeting' and now sharing a daughter together too.

And Priyanka opened up more about the impact such 'hurtful' comments have had on her during an interview with Variety.

The 43-year-old actor and producer broke down what she believes 'rubs people the wrong way' when it comes to her relationship with Nick.

She continued: "I think there was the intercultural nature of it — different countries, different religions, age gap."

However, while it 'was very hurtful,' the actor has found a way to 'stop thinking about' people sat there waiting for the demise of her relationship.

Priyanka reflected: "We both, instead of looking out, just sort of looked at each other, and we were like, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ So it’s like water off a duck’s back now.”

And looking at Nick, Priyanka praises him as being 'constantly sincere,' crediting him for helping her 'learn how to be a lot more comfortable in [her] awkwardness and [her] insecurities' since the pair got married.

"It really continues to be inspiring to me, this sincerity," she noted.

Ultimately, the actor tries to keep her public side and personal side separate, explaining she's 'kind of divided [herself] into two'.

She explained she's 'OK with being approached by anyone and taking photos' and despite the security guards which often accompany her and her family, 'they know that she [loves] people coming to talk to' her.

So why have them in place? Well, Priyanka added the guards are there to ensure she and her family aren't 'being recorded without consent'.

"That’s my biggest thing with everyone having cellphones," she continued. "It happens often, especially with my daughter. We’re in the park or having ice cream, and suddenly I’ll see it online."
