"He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch-perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations."

Tributes have come flooding in for the actor following news of his untimely passing.

Fellow actor Selma Blair wrote: "All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day.

“I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I’m broken. Broken hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams.”

Meanwhile, Paget Brewster, who played Chandler’s girlfriend Kathy in season four of Friends, wrote on X: “He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after. Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won’t rest in peace though. He’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there.”

Matthew Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing in Friends.

Just five days before his death, Perry shared a photo on Instagram of himself relaxing in a jacuzzi while donning headphones, along with the caption: “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman."

He also shared a video of the moon that same day, writing: “Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? – I’m Mattman,” in another apparent Batman reference.

Fans have since flooded to the post after learning of his death, with one writing: "This caption is so eerie now, 6 days later. So scary. Rest in Peace man.."

"You provided countless laughs for millions. Rest in peace," said another, while a third commented: "the one where we are forced to say goodbye ❤️‍🩹 thank you for all the laughs. forever missed."

Perry achieved global fame with his role of Chandler Bing in Friends alongside David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow, earning fan-favorite status with his sarcastic jokes and witty quips.

The actor got back together with his Friends gang to film a reunion special back in 2021, where they all reflected on their time on the hit show.

The actor had also been very open about his lifelong struggle with addiction to alcohol and opioids, most prominently in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which released last year.

While promoting his book, he did a series of interviews where he bravely opened up about his struggles, becoming emotional at times as he went into candid detail.

No cause of death has been officially confirmed.
