Mark Zuckerberg calls out Elon Musk for delaying their cage match

The Meta boss says he's not 'holding his breath' for Musk to agree to an official date.

Mark Zuckerberg says Elon Musk was never serious about their cage fight and he's not 'holding his breath' for him to agree to an official date.

Yep, them's fighting words.

On June 20, Musk tweeted that he 'would be up for a cage fight' if Zuckerberg was and the Meta boss responded 'send me the location'.

Then in July, UFC champion Israel Adesanya posted photos of Zuckerberg training with him and his UFC teammate Alex Volkanovski.

And Zuck looked...ripped.

Over the weekend, Musk texted Zuckerberg and suggested they do a 'practise bout' in Zuckerberg's backyard and the Meta CEO told him to let him know when he's ready to do a 'real MMA fight'.

Now, Zuck has accused Musk of wasting his time and never being serious about actually fighting him.

"I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on," he said on his new social media platform Threads over the weekend.

"I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead."

He continued: "If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.

"Otherwise, time to move on. I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."

The Meta boss then posted a photo from his 'Friday Morning Fight' in his backyard.

"I love this sport and I've been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you'll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on," he wrote.

He added: "Not holding my breath for Elon, but I'll share details on my next fight when I'm ready. When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card."

The latest exchange between the two tech bosses comes after reports that Zuckerberg was approached by the Italian Minister of Culture to hold the fight at the Colosseum.

Musk later tweeted: "Some chance fight happens in Colosseum".

The X CEO is yet to reply to Zuck's latest jab but earlier this month he tweeted that the fight would be live streamed on X, and that he has been lifting weights at work to prepare.
