For many parents, having their friends notice their kids acting with 'no respect' would be a majorly embarrassing moment. But in the household of Hollywood A-listers Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell, this apparent rudeness seems to be a sign that everything is going to plan.
Shepard, who has turned his Punk'd and Parenthood smash-hit success into an equally popular podcast, revealed this while speaking on the latest instalment of his Armchair Expert show.
The podcast has seen him sit across from a plethora of massive stars for an informal chat, including heavyweights like Will Ferrell and Barack Obama.
Recently, the couple's relationship came under scrutiny after Kristen Bell celebrated their 12th anniversary by sharing that Shepard had joked 'I would never kill you', during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

On his latest podcast episode, the 50-year-old father-of-two revealed interesting details about his and Bell's parenting style, after being challenged by a friend who witnessed the less-than polite tone used by his kids while eating at a restaurant in Nashville.
Shepard - who shares daughters, Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, with his wife - said: “She said it very kindly, but she's basically like, they're kind of shook with how our daughters will talk back to us or to anybody because it's very un-Southern, right?”
This meal in Nashville left the star's friend with plenty to say, with her continuing to question their apparent lack of respect, with Shepard explaining: “And she's like, yeah, your kids will let it rip. They seem to have no kind of respect is what she was saying. And feeling a little entitled.”

But despite this criticism, Shepard was adamant that he wanted more for his two daughters than the simple politeness of Southern gentility, knowing they will grow up in a world that is anything but genteel.

The Hollywood A-lister said he was more than happy to put up with the embarrassment of being spoken back to in public, because his eye is on his daughters' futures.
“I can handle that because I want this other thing for them as women,” he said.

It is not the first time that the celebrity dad has revealed something about his and Bell's family life, with Shepard previously letting slip another unorthodox aspect of his approach to raising children.
In a July podcast episode, he said: “I fully swear in front of my kids.
“They are allowed to swear, not with impunity, but when it's called for and they land it. And it's in the house and not out at a restaurant, it's okay.”
