Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have detailed their children's reaction to their characters' breakup in a 2012 movie.
Some 13 years ago, the acting couple appeared in Hit & Run, a comedy/action sitting at a 49 percent Rotten Tomatoes score after receiving a mixed reception at box office.
While Bell and Shepard were falling in love in real life, Charlie Bronson and Annie Bean, the characters the pair were playing, ended up separating in the movie after a previous romance.
During an joint appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the duo revealed their daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, had seen the movie, with Bell and Shepard taken aback by their reaction.

"Our kids rarely show interest in us as — anyone with kids knows — but they did want to see this movie we made, because we're very much in love," Shepard said.
"I mean, we're childless, and we had nothing to do but love each other."
Shepard continued: "They were very upset. and what made me so happy is they were mad at Mom, not me. They thought Mom was a b****. They thought Daddy was a good boy with a bad past, and she should be able to overlook that, and I agree."

While there are a lot of rough patches, Bell and Shepard's characters ultimately do reconcile, which meant Lincoln and Delta were able to enjoy the movie.
"We spent we spent all this time making this independent film and Daddy wrote it and directed it and they were like, 'We want to see it,'” the Idiocracy star added.
"And we hadn't watched it in forever. We like, 'OK, let's watch it with you.' They loved it. It's very inappropriate. And it was a great litmus test for our children."

You may be asking why the acting pair have been speaking about a 13-year-old film during a recent TV appearance. Well, it's due to the fact Hit & Run has hit Netflix recently, which Bell and Shepard hope will give it a new lease of life.
And while they are both busy with work, Bell and Shepard are committed to putting the work in when it comes to their relationship.
Speaking on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live, Shepard said: "I don't like the idea that you're looking for your perfect puzzle piece because you also have to become a puzzle piece that fits with someone else.
"So if you find two people that are like, 'Yeah, we're going to make this work and that means we're going to compromise constantly and those compromises should work well for both of us.'"
