Kate Hudson has explained what her relationship with her father is like despite the very public insults she once received from him.
Making a family work can be tough for some, and for Hollywood, the same issues and struggles can also occur - sometimes on a larger scale and in a very public setting.
This is certainly true for actress and singer Kate Hudson, who has rather been tight-lipped about her feelings towards her estranged father, Bill Hudson.
Bill married Kate’s mother Goldie Hawn in 1976 and had two children together, Kate and Oliver Hudson.

The couple would eventually split in 1982, and the musician and actor Bill would go on to have three more children with two different women, Cindy Williams and Caroline Graham.
Goldie would go on to have a relationship with Kurt Russell in 1983 and the pair have been together since. Kate and Oliver would eventually come to see him as their father.
Over the years, the public has learned of the strained relationship between Bill and his two children from Hawn.

Back in 2011, Bill released a memoir, 2 Versions: The Other Side of Fame & Family and stunned the public with his comments towards his adult daughter.
According to a Digital spy report, Bill described his estranged daughter as a ‘brat’ and said that he hopes she will one day let him visit his grandchild, Ryder Robinson, as well as connect with her half siblings.
Speaking to Radar Online, Bill reportedly said: "I love Kate, but she has done stuff which is just awful.
“She is a spoiled brat in my eyes and at the end of the day, she should meet her little sister. I should meet my grandchild and she should help her grandmother.
“Kate doesn't have to talk to me and she doesn't have to give her a dime of her millions. All I want is for her to call and say, 'Hi grandma', before it's too late."
It was only last year during an interview that Kate explained that her relationship with her father was somewhat ‘warming’.
When asked about the relationship during an interview with CBS Sunday morning, she said: “I don’t really have one. But it is kind of warming up.
“There is warming up [sort of] happening and it will be whatever it will be, you know.
“I have no expectation of that with my father, you know, it is just like, I just want him to be happy.”
