Rapper Kanye West has given a rare, if short, interview that has left fans worried after he gave a particularly morbid answer.
West, who had his name legally changed to just Ye in 2021, was stopped for the on-the-spot interview with the Mystery Fashionist blog while at a pop up in Tokyo, Japan, showcasing designer Gosha Rubchinskiy's latest styles.
After content creator AJay Porter asked who he is and where he's from, stating the obvious, the rapper said in a dissociative voice: "I'm Ye I'm from Chi...", while staring firmly at the ground.
Rubchinskiy has previously worked for Ye's fashion label, signing on as head designer in 2023 following Adidas' withdrawal from its partnership with Yeezy - after Ye threatened to go 'death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE', during a public social media rant.

The Russian post-Soviet style designer amicably parted ways with the rapper's company in February of this year, evidenced by Ye's surprise Tokyo appearance. Though Ye himself did not appear to be in the most positive of moods.
Porter followed up by asking the fashionista father-of-four and ex-husband of Kim Kardashian what exactly he was wearing to the haute couture event, and to rate it on a scale of one to 10.
Showing his usual bravado but continuing in a subdued voice, Ye said: "It's always a 10/10, I got the original Yeezy 950 boots on," before pointing to his light-colored boots.
Then, thinking about the rest of his typically Ye outfit, blue denim shirt and jeans, with a black bomber jacket, he added: "Gosha did the pop up today so the rest of it's all Gosha."
But then, after a few very difficult years for the rapper that have involved divorce, a fight for custody, and his social isolation after making a series of extremely offensive statements, he was asked a seemingly softball question that went south in just one word.
Fashion blogger Porter asked the 'Jesus Walks' hitmaker, who has appeared in public wearing giant puffer jackets and with a black mask covering his face: "What’s a fashion trend you regret participating in?"
Barely missing a beat, Ye gave a concerning one-word reply.
"Life," he said.
This response led many of the video's seven million viewers to share their concerns, with one saying: "Ye tired man."
Another person echoed: "He looks so sad."
The 48-year-old star has rarely been seen in public as of late, finally appearing on a stage in Tokyo earlier this month after Travis Scott brought him on for a surprise set of two songs.
For some of Mystery Fashionist's 300,000 followers, this melancholic answer from the rapper even worked as a proof of identity, with a fan saying: "I almost thought this ain’t Ye until he answered 'Life'."
But, for some, Ye was just being real. Someone else commented: "He ain’t lying lol. It’s rough out here!!"
