Footage has resurfaced of the painfully awkward moment Jimmy Fallon realized he'd completely fumbled a potential romance with Nicole Kidman before her marriage to now-ex Keith Urban.
Kidman and Urban tied the knot in June 2006 after meeting a year prior in LA, and went on to welcome two children together, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
But almost 20 years on, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences.

A source with knowledge of the split told PEOPLE that Kidman 'didn't want' the divorce and had been 'fighting to save the marriage' - but if one previous encounter with Fallon had gone differently, Kidman might never have ended up with Urban at all.
The Australian actor recalled her bizarre encounter with Fallon when she appeared on his chat show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, in 2005, where she explained that when she was still single, she'd been told by a friend that Fallon had wanted to meet her.
Fallon apparently had no recollection of this version of events, leading Kidman to continue with her story: "You're there in a baseball cap... and you wouldn't talk, you didn't say anything, you were like, 'hey'.
"And then you put a video game on or something, and I'm like 'this is so bad'."

Needless to say, the date - or whatever it was - didn't go well, with Fallon literally falling to the floor on his show with embarrassment.
The clip of Kidman sharing her story has resurfaced following her split from Urban, with one viewer describing it as 'the best interview of all time'.
"Men really do fumble the most gorgeous women," another wrote.

Fallon later shared his own recollection of the meeting with Kidman in an interview with 20 Questions: On Deadline, where he explained that she'd gone to his apartment following a discussion with a mutual friend when she was casting her love interest for the 2005 movie Bewitched.
The chat show host explained: "I thought [she'd come over] for this movie she was doing, Bewitched, which Will Ferrell ended up getting [...] I thought it was a chemistry thing."
Fallon's realization that he'd misread the situation unfortunately left him horrified, as he added: “My face just melted. It was the most embarrassing thing."
Following her split from Urban, Kidman has asked in court documents to become the primary residential parent of the couple's two daughters.
