Jenny McCarthy has weighed in on Jim Carrey's appearance at an awards show in France.

Carrey attended the César Awards in Paris on February 26, and his appearance was very different to how it had been when he was at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

The star of The Mask looked so different in fact that it has even sparked conspiracy theories about Carrey.

This is a common theory around celebrities, and is that he this wasn't Carrey at all because he had actually been replaced by a clone.

The clone theory has been directed at other celebrities too, including Avril Lavigne, Eminem, and Paul McCartney who have all been subject to the strange conspiracy.

Now, McCarthy has spoken up about her ex's appearance when he attended the César Awards.

And clone theories aside, she had one thing in particular to say about the way that Carrey looked when he attended the ceremony.

"He looked very happy at that award show," she said. "And I was happy for him.

"That's the first thing I noticed. I said, 'Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.'"

McCarthy's husband Donnie Wahlberg also weighed in, remarking how the fact that Carrey looked very happy could easily have been overlooked.

"You know, that's the part that, sadly, people miss," he said. "We're so obsessed with how he looks that we didn't consider how happy he looked."

Carrey had been attending the award ceremony to be awarded his Honorary César.

Gregory Caulier was the general delegate of the César Awards, and told how Carrey had been 'extremely touched by the Academy's invitation' in a statement to Variety.

He said: "Eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions. He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words."

Addressing Carrey's appearance, he added: "For me, it’s a non-issue. Just remember his generosity, his kindness, his benevolence, his elegance.”

Carrey and McCarthy got together back in 2005, before their relationship came to an end in 2010.

In a statement at the time, McCarthy said: “I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I shared together. I will continue to be in his daughter’s life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”

A representative for Jim Carrey previously told PEOPLE in a statement: "Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.”
