Jessica Simpson has announced that she and her husband, Eric Johnson, are taking time apart just months before they're set to mark their 10-year wedding anniversary.
Simpson, who is now 44, shared the news in a statement with PEOPLE on January 13, revealing that she and Johnson have already been 'living separately'.
The singer married her former NFL player husband in July 2014, three years after they first met through a mutual friend and began dating.
Simpson had previously been married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2005.

Simpson and Johnson got engaged after six months of dating and went on to welcome three children prior to getting married; daughters Maxwell 'Maxi' Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11.
As their 10th anniversary looms, Simpson announced the news of the split in a statement.
"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage," she said. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
It's unclear how long Johnson and Simpson have been living separately, though Johnson was seen out without his wedding ring in November.
While Simpson described the situation with her husband as 'painful', she has kept spirits high on social media.
Last week, the singer shared a snap of herself grinning at the camera and wrote: "Life is short. SMILE while you still have teeth."
She has received support from fans in the wake of her split from Johnson, with one writing: "Wishing them both the best as they navigate this tough time."
"Wanting nothing but the best and happiness for @JessicaSimpson." added another.
The Dukes of Hazzard star previously spoke adoringly about her relationship with Johnson, describing him as her 'soulmate' in a 2023 interview.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the time, she said: "A true love will never make you question yourself or what's real. Thanks to my amazing soulmate I am able to love passionately and without fear of being hurt."
Simpson has also told the publication that her husband 'understands [her] heart more than anyone' she'd ever met.
In 2022, she told the outlet the couple focused on communication.
"I feel like Eric and I learn from each other so much," she said. "I feel like we're stronger than ever now, [more] than we were even at the beginning."
