Jennifer Aniston addressed her feelings after splitting up with Brad Pitt while reflecting on some of her most iconic roles.

While Brad Pitt is known for having a massive spat with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie now, at one point, he was married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston. And his separation from Aniston was much more of a scandal back in the day.

Aniston and Pitt were married for five years between 2000 and 2005, but things seemed to get dicey when Pitt worked on the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

It is through this film that he met Angelina Jolie, and this coincided with the end of his marriage...however, Pitt has previously stated that his relationship with Jolie did not begin until he had separated from Aniston.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Aniston spoke about the aftermath of her separation and noted a film she starred in helped her deal with it.

In 2006, Aniston starred in the film The Break-Up, where she separates from her boyfriend after feeling unappreciated, but the pair chooses to stay in the same apartment.

Aniston reflected on a speech she made during the film directed at her in-film boyfriend, played by Vince Vaughn.

In the speech, she said: “I don’t care, I am done. I am done. I do not deserve this I really do not deserve this.

“I deserve someone who gives a s***. I am not spending one more second in this life with some inconsiderate pr***.”

Aniston joked that she ‘might have just gone through a separation’ that no one remembers, when she was filming.

She continued: “It was kind of cathartic to go right from that.

“When they came to me with the offer they were a little nervous about making it because they thought ‘ohh, is this insensitive’ or ‘is it inappropriate.’

“But I actually thought what a great opportunity.

“And I knew it would kind of benefit me emotionally just as a human being and serve the script and the character pretty well.”

Aniston has previously spoken about the difficulties of dealing with the break-up, especially due to the added complexity of Pitt seemingly moving on so quickly with Jolie.

When she first saw pictures of Jolie and Pitt together, she recalled: "The world was shocked, and I was shocked.

"I can't say it was one of the highlights of my year. Who would deal with that and say, 'Isn't that sweet! That looks like fun!?' But s*** happens. You joke and say, 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger'."
