Hilary Duff has been roasted online after sharing that she sobbed over spilling coffee on her luxury Balenciaga bag - a reaction that left some fans rolling their eyes.
The Lizzie McGuire icon took to her Instagram Story on Friday (October 24) to share the emotional aftermath of what she called a full-on caffeine catastrophe.
"Spilled my entire coffee inside my purse and front seat," she wrote. "A whole milk latte. Didn’t even get one sip."

I mean, that's pretty traumatic for anyone, right?
In a follow-up photo, the 38-year-old appeared teary-eyed in the passenger seat, captioning it: "Then I called my husband and sobbed."
The actor, who’s been married to musician Matthew Koma since 2019, also shared a third snap pointing out a blue Lola tampon in her bag, hinting that hormones may have played a part in the dramatic moment.

For those wondering, Balenciaga bags don’t come cheap - the designer’s handbags usually fetch around $3,000, with some models costing much more depending on the collection.
While Duff isn’t typically one to flaunt her designer gear, Balenciaga is a brand loved by countless A-listers - including Kim Kardashian, who famously revealed in January that she owns 129 of the high-end bags, reportedly worth around $387,000 in total.
But while Kim might be drowning in Balenciagas, Hilary’s emotional moment didn’t exactly win over the internet.
Of course, people were less than impressed by the star's antics, with those on X blasting her.

Hilariously, one user quoted the now-infamous line: "People are dying kim."

For those that don't know, it's in reference to the Keeping Up With the Kardashians episode where Kim starts crying after one of her $75,000 diamond earrings fell out in the sea.
After hearing all the commotion, Kourtney pops out of her hotel room and asks what's gone on. Kim replies: "My diamond earring came off in the ocean and it's gone."

"Kim, there's people that are dying," Kourtney epically tells her little sister.
Went a bit off topic there... Anyway, others shared a similar sentiment.
"BFD [Big f***ing deal] it’s just a purse," one user wrote, as another typed: "Like she can't buy another one?"
With a third penning: "Read the room."

But some people had sympathy for Duff as they could relate to heartbreak.
"Understandable," tweeted one user.
While another added: "She is the type of person that would only have one of these bags. Her cry is meaningful."
UNILAD has contacted Duff's reps for comment.
