Heidi Klum's 2024 Halloween outfit has filled people's 'childhood hearts with joy'.

Lizzo may've used the occasion to clap back at South Park in epic fashion and Anne Hathaway incorporated a cheeky pun in her costume, but Heidi Klum continues to reign superior above them all.

Previous years have seen Klum take to red carpets ahead of her annual Halloween parties - yes, she's that much of a spooky season Queen - as the Forbidden Fruit in 2006, a stripped open body cadaver in 2011, a 95-year-old version of herself in 2013, a worm in 2022 and a peacock last year with several Cirque du Soleil back-up dancers even on hand to complete the fit.

Klum told Vogue last year her costume 'needed to be more magical than in the year's past' as a result of the pandemic having paused the annual Halloween do's.

However, this year could very well top them all, with Klum's outfit a take on an absolutely iconic movie character - which you should have all recognized as soon as you saw the images, but for those of you who need a film education still, it's the E.T. alien from the 1982 release starring Drew Barrymore.

Klum took to Instagram earlier in the day on October 31 to tease her costume, sharing an image of red-nailed fingers clutching a prosthetic thumb, alongside sharing a video of herself in her costume, but with only her face on camera it's hard to tell what on earth - or clearly not on earth - she is.

She says: "We have begun, we have begun." Before checking in to see how much longer they have - presumably in hair and make-up and getting the costume fitted - with prosthetic designer Mike Marino saying: "About six more hours." - A mammoth task to say the least.

The TV host shared two more clips teasing her costume before unveiling it in a post with PrimeVideo, the caption reading: "Heidi, phone home!"

The video shows Klum go from herself into E.T. wearing a blonde wig, bowl hat, pink cardigan and scarf with her partner Tom Kaulitz in more stripped back classic E.T. gear.

And it hasn't taken long for images of the pair papped on the carpet ahead of her 23rd Annual Halloween Party at The Venue on Music Row in New York to spread round social media, with people flooding to weigh in online.

One Twitter user wrote: "Oh wow. That’s incredible. And fills my childhood heart with joy."

"Kills it EVERY SINGLE TIME," another added.

A third commented: "Took me a while to realize their faces were in their necks!"

And a fourth resolved: "Heidi is ALWAYS the Queen Of Halloween! Love it!!!!!"

While someone else praised: "Ok, Heidi Klum wins Halloween AGAIN."
