When it comes to The Simpsons, I’m fairly sure we can all agree that there are few things that are so universal in making people laugh as that show.

Whether it be one of the character’s synonymous catchphrases, a pitch-perfect parody, or a sinisterly creepy prediction of the ongoing geo-political climate of our world, The Simpsons always seems to deliver.

When you think though, of there being just one type of person who might not laugh at it, who would you think of?

Your grumpy pal? Your parents? Your teacher who seems to have simply no sense of humour?

Nope, all wrong. The hardest to make laugh, in any context, is the King’s Guard in the UK.

Whether it be annoying tourists, annoying influencers, or annoying ‘comedians’, I can’t say I’ve seen a video where a King’s Guard cracks even a smile, let alone laugh.

Despite this, a famous Simpsons actor who you may not have even known is behind many of your favourite voices made their best attempt.

Hank Azaria is the voice behind a number of the show's most iconic voices, including Moe the Bartender, Chief Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, and Professor Frink.

The voice actor is currently in the UK, and he decided to go up to a King’s Guard and do his best to make them laugh, saying: “Let’s see if the guard is a Simpsons fan.” Check it out:

Despite cycling through some of his iconic voices, his luck comes up dry, with the guard not even remotely cracking a grin.

The video was posted by Azaria on TikTok and has been swiftly reposted on X with the caption: “Obsessed with Hank Azaria doing the voices of Moe, Chief Wiggum, etc, in an attempt to make this soldier crack. I don’t think I’d last a microsecond.”

Another fan replied to this to say: “The willpower with the Queen's Guard is so outstanding, I don't think I'd last in a try-not-to-laugh contest with them.”

Over on TikTok, one fan commented: “Give that dude a raise. I would’ve been smiling immediately. You’re amazing Hank”.

Another said: “The guard later was probably like you’re not going to believe me.”

And a third concurred, adding: “The guard after his shift: ‘y’all… Hank Azaria came by and did all of his voices for me!!!!’”

Whilst the voices were all hilarious, some fans didn’t understand why Azaria didn’t whip out Apu, a character he no longer voices.

The reason for this is, well, Azaria doesn’t voice him anymore.

The voice actor stopped voicing the role of the Indian convenience store owner over backlash surrounding the idea of a white voice actor playing the role of a Indian man whose voice was essentially a racist stereotype.

Azaria said in a 2021 apology: “I really didn’t know any better. I didn’t think about it. I was unaware how much relative advantage I had received in this country as a white kid from Queens.

“Part of me feels I need to go round to every single Indian person in this country and personally apologise.”
