Grimes says she had been working up to get her face tattoo but 'literally no one noticed' when she finally got it.
The 37-year-old Canadian singer, real name Claire Boucher, and former girlfriend of Elon Musk, has revealed she got a huge tattoo covering her face 'a few months ago', which she says has gone completely unnoticed.
The 'Genesis' singer shared a make-up free selfie on Instagram to show off her new ink, which admittedly isn't immediately obvious.
The star revealed a giant red circle has been permanently inked onto her face, encompassing her left eye.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, Grimes wrote: "I got a face tattoo a few months ago and literally nobody noticed, not even my parents lol.
"Idky this face tattoo is imperceptible but just for the record it's my fave tat - by @glamour_spells."

In a follow-up post on Instagram, the mom-of-three, who shares four-year-old X Æ A-Xii, three-year-old Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno 'Tau' Mechanicus, also three, with Musk, said she didn't rush into the decision.

"Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo," she penned, though apparently it was all in vain.
"I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed, not even my parents, not even after the video lol."
In January this year, she also said a face tattoo had been 'beckoning me for years'.
"I've got the artist for it and everything - might have to pull the trigger just to spite everyone," she penned.

Despite the tat going under the radar, Grimes again praised the artist for the unique so-called cybersigilism design, which blends cyberpunk aesthetics with ancient symbols.
She concluded: "That said I think @glyphomancer is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats- there's a true beauty, delicacy, and innovation here imo.

"Feel like tats are in a crazy renaissance period that's sort of under appreciated atm."

The news comes as the sci-fi obsessed musician is no stranger to out-of-the-box body art, having booked with the same artist in March this year for a hand-poked white ink across her shoulder and décolletage.
In 2021, she also revealed she'd had a huge, neo-tribal piece inked in white across her entire back, which she said gave her 'beautiful alien scars'.
Although she admits she's 'covered' over most of her body in ink, there is at least one area she isn't keen on.
"I won't keep beating the tattoo drum but I am literally covered in tattoos over most of my body," the star wrote in a separate post earlier this year.

"My shoulders chest and back are completely covered but it's all white ink. It looks like barely perceptible mystical dragon scarring. My legs are super heavy - each leg has a giant single piece.

"You can definitely get even a lot of ink and work hard with the artists such that it suits you really well and feels organic.
"People are always so confused when they realize I'm heavily tattooed but it really deeply feels almost like birth marks or something like it's strange people just seem to not perceive them.

"The one thing I've never done is my arms - because I think heavy on the arms is what gives the like.. Harley Davidson biker look and I'm specifically going for like - not 'tattoo culture' - doing the arms is the one thing that seems to really alter one's aesthetic. Even my hands are covered, both palms even."
