Drake says he won’t marry a celebrity because they aren’t ‘anything’

The rapper has said he can't see himself settling down with a famous person

Drake has revealed that he’s unlikely to ever settle down with a celebrity because he thinks they ‘really aren’t that… anything’. I wonder if he’s included himself in that category?

The 36-year-old rapper, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, opened up about how he sees his future romantic life panning out and it’s fair to say he’s not that keen on getting hitched to a fellow famous face.

Drake recently appeared on TikTok star Bobbi Althoff’s The Really Good Podcast, where he asked: “If you could hook me up with anyone, who would it be?”

Althoff suggested that Beyoncé might be on the list, but Drake quickly shut that idea down as Bey is happily married.

“OK, someone else, ’cause Beyoncé’s married,” Drake replied.

“Pick someone else. It doesn’t have to be someone famous… I probably will end up marrying someone that’s not famous. Famous people really aren’t that… aren’t that anything. They’re not that intriguing.”

When pressed on what he was looking for in a partner, he said: "Somebody that’s an individual.”

To which, Althoff sarcastically replied: “Wow, you really have high standards.”

Opening up about what he meant by that, the Canadian star said: “I like somebody that’s, like, their own.

“They’re not just not like a carbon copy, like a person that I’ve seen a bunch of times throughout my existence. I like somebody with a sense of humor, you know? I like - I don’t know, like, cosplay.”

Drake went on to say that he isn’t a ‘celebrity-chaser’, before admitting that he will most likely never get married as he puts his career first.

He continued: “I don’t think I can offer somebody what they’d be looking for.

“I think my life, my work is my priority… I don’t want to get married ’because I don’t want to disappoint someone. And I’m not Amish.”

Although he may never get married, Drake has enjoyed a string of high profile relationships, having dated SZA back in 2008 and 2009, as well as an on/off relationship with Rihanna from 2009 to 2016.

Drake has previously admitted that he once thought his ‘perfect life’ would include having children with the 'Diamonds' singer.

During a 2018 appearance on LeBron James’ The Shop talk show, Drake said: "As life takes shape and teaches you your own lessons, I end up in this situation where I don't have the fairy tale, like, 'Oh, Drake started a family with Rihanna and this is like so perfect'.

"It looks so good on paper. By the way, I wanted that too at one time."
