Gossip Girl actor sparks backlash after saying he 'hilariously' tried 'hooking up with a man' because 'women are the worst'

Armie Hammer has come under fire after recounting the 'hilarious' time he tried hooking up with a man because he was fed up with women.

The former Hollywood heartthrob has made a series of controversial comments over the years, including that he accepted a vasectomy as a birthday gift from his mom.

And who can forget that back in 2021, Hammer was met with accusations of being a cannibal, as well as sexual assault and rape - all of which he strongly denied.

Now, on his Armie HammerTime podcast, the former Gossip Girl actor gave an incredibly detailed account of the time he tried hooking up with a Grindr date in the bathroom of a restaurant.

Apparently, though, he wasn't questioning his sexuality, or curious to explore his attraction to men.

Instead, he reckoned 'gay dudes' have it 'so easy' and women are 'the worst.'

Regaling the apparently 'hilarious' antic, Hammer set the scene: "I’m at a restaurant, my phone blows up, and it’s, like, Grindr, and someone else is like, 'I’m at the same restaurant. Do you want a blowjob in the bathroom?' And you’re like, 'Hey, guys. I’ll be back in five minutes.' OK, this could work..."

So far so good, but it wasn't long before Hammer was faced with his first unexpected obstacle.

He explained: "I started making out with him, and I just remember being like, 'God! Beards!' Oh I get why women like it when you shave! Like, this thing is f**king rough."

He then described the 'strange' feeling of putting his arms around the 'handsome' French man - who was as tall as Hammer - and feeling his 'wide' shoulders.

"It did physically for me, absolutely nothing," he admitted. "It was kind of getting hotter and heavier but nothing, like, not even a twitch."

Things took an awkward turn, as Hammer explained: "He reached for my d**k and I was like, you’re not going to touch my flaccid penis. Like, this is not going to happen.'"

People were dumbfounded by the story, as one person on X pointed out: "Absolutely insane thing to reveal but also insane that some guy hit up Armie Hammer on Grindr and didn’t get catfished."

Others slammed his hookup story as a desperate attempt to 'court a gay male audience.'

Taking to Reddit, one person theorized: "Some gay men will definitely be into this, btw. He's pandering to their 'curious straight man' or 'straight2gay' kink."

A second pointed out: "Armie is a wealthy, conventionally attractive white man. Of course he'd have a great time on dating apps."

Another hit out at his 'women are the worst' comment, branding it a 'stupid take.'

"This is like those incel arguments that women have it so easy - they can have sex anytime they want!" they highlighted.
