Socks, a bottle of sparkling wine, a vasectomy... just your regular list of birthday presents, right? No?
Well, tell that to Armie Hammer.
The Call Me By Your Name actor opened up about his bizarre birthday gift during a new episode on his show, the Armie HammerTime Podcast, on which he's recently featured a two-part interview with his mom, Dru Hammer.
The interview came after Hammer celebrated his 38th birthday in August, prompting Dru to say on the podcast: "Let’s talk about what I gave you for your birthday this year."
Dru went on to tell listeners how she'd given her son a call ahead of his birthday and asked: "What would you like for your birthday this year?"

The actor then gave the kind of response I'm sure we've all given at some point in our lives, saying: "I don’t know. Maybe money. Whatever."
Money is always an easy gift idea for those hoping to honor the occasion, but the suggestion wasn't good enough for Dru.
She recalled: "I was like, ‘I believe I’m going to give you a vasectomy'."

The pair skipped the part where Hammer actually agreed to this offer, but apparently he did, because he then recalled the moment he arrived at the doctor's office.
"I go, ‘I’m here to schedule a vasectomy'," Hammer recalled.
He was taken to speak to a doctor, who asked if he was 'sure' he wanted to go through with the procedure.
“I’m like, ‘I have two beautiful kids. I don’t want any more kids. I’m good to go',” Hammer continued, referring to the two children, Harper and Ford, who he shares with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers.

“They try to talk you out of it. I’m like, ‘You’re not going to talk me out of it. I’m done. I’m good'," he said.
Once he'd successfully had the snip, Hammer went back to the receptionist to pay for the procedure, explaining he didn't have medical insurance.
Instead, he said: "My mother’s going to be calling you and she’s going to be paying for it."

The receptionist seemingly hadn't heard that one before.
Hammer continued: "She was looking down and she [looks up] and goes, ‘What?’ And I go, ‘Yes, my mother gave me this as a birthday present'.
“It was just one of those things … you could tell she was hearing something and like [thinks], ‘I’ve never heard… what are you talking about?’ So yeah, my mom got me a vasectomy for my birthday.”
Dru then went on to explain the reasoning behind the birthday present, explaining that she is Catholic, but knows telling Hammer not to have sex outside marriage was 'not gonna work'.

“I know there are these young girls that would love to have Armie Hammer’s baby,” she added.
On the off chance Dru is ever in a position to buy me a birthday present... I'll stick to the sparkling wine, thanks!
