Angelina Jolie’s daughter Zahara appears to drop Pitt from name as she introduces herself at sorority event

The 18-year-old was inducted into Spelman College's Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority last week

Angelina Jolie’s daughter Zahara appears to have distanced herself from her famous father, dropping Pitt from her name at a college event.

Zahara, 18, is one of six children shared by Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

The former couple, who were together for 11 years, adopted their three eldest children, Maddox, 22, Pax, 19, and Zahara, 18, between 2002 and 2007.

They also have three biological children – Shiloh, 17, and 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Now, it appears Zahara is distancing herself from her famous father as she enjoys college life.

Last week, the teen joined Spelman College's Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

And, as the undergraduate declared herself at the sorority's induction ceremony, she shouted: “Zahara Marley Jolie."

Zahara has joined the Mu Pi Chapter of the first historically Black sorority in the US. Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded in 1908, with the Mu Pi Chapter being established in the 1970s.

She was seen dancing alongside her fellow sorority sisters at the induction celebration, before introducing herself: “My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California.”

Social media users were quick to point out that fact that she didn't include her dad's last name.

One person wrote on X: “I wasn’t gonna say anything, but I definitely peeped that Zahara left Pitt off her last name."

Another added: “She said Zahara Marley JOLIE. Put some respect on that name.”

A third said: “Zahara shouting her last name 'Jolie' with all her might and stopping is so pleasing to me, we love to see it."

Several social media users referenced allegations of abuse made against Pitt following an incident on a flight back in 2016, in which he was reported to have 'grabbed' Jolie by the head and shoulders, shook her and pushed her into a wall.

A spokesperson for Pitt described the claims as 'completely untrue' at the time.

The actor was cleared of allegations of abuse following a full investigation by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the LAPD.

Zahara reportedly enrolled at Spelman in the fall of 2022. Her famous mom was spotted by fellow parents during move-in activities in August of that year.

At the time, Jolie took to Instagram to celebrate her daughter’s induction into Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Alongside a picture of Zahara and a few of her new college friends, she wrote: “Zahara with her Spelman sisters!”

“Congratulations to all new students starting this year,” she added. “A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”
