"I'm just thinking about my mom today," the Spider-Man actor replies. "She passed away not too long ago and you know, I just miss her a lot." Garfield's mother, Lynn, passed away in 2019 from pancreatic cancer.

The actor then shared that it's 'actually kind of okay to miss somebody'.

"You know, that sadness is kind of a gift," he continued. "Kind of a lovely thing to feel in a way, because it means that you really loved somebody when you miss them.

"And when I miss someone, when I miss my mom, I remember all the cuddles I used to get from her. All the hugs I used to get from her.

"It makes me feel close to her when I miss her, in a strange sort of way," he added. "So, I'm happy to have all the memories of my mom and all the joy she brought me.

"And the joy she brought my brother, and my dad, everyone she ever met, everyone around her. So when I miss her, I remember it's because she made me so happy.

"So I can celebrate her and I can miss her at the same time," Garfield concluded.

In case you weren't already crying at this point, Elmo then reassures Garfield and thanks him for being so honest about what he was feeling.

He said: "Elmo wants to know how people are doing and Elmo is very happy that you shared that with him.

"And you know what? Elmo is going to think about and celebrate your mummy, too," Elmo added, officially moving everyone into tears.

To wrap up their conversation, Elmo then looks directly into the camera and reminds audiences watching that they're also going to celebrate all the special people in their lives that they may have lost.

Another user noted how they found comfort in their conversation sharing, "Who knew I needed this? It was just the anniversary of losing my dad a few days ago and man do I miss him. Thank you for sharing this."

Other users mentioned the importance of Sesame Street tackling tough subjects like grief with one user commenting, "This is such a sweet and tender message of what it's like to miss people, endure loss and explain grief. I am and will forever be a fan of Sesame Street."
