MrBeast says being rich and famous isn't the best thing about his YouTube career

MrBeast has explained why he does what he does

Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, is the number one YouTuber in the world thanks to his insanely viral videos like his Squid Game recreation and his heartwarming giveaways.

Just last year, Forbes predicted that MrBeast could become the first YouTuber billionaire - but he insists he doesn't do it for the money or the fame. Take a look:

Over the years, MrBeast has donated millions of dollars both to charities and members of the public, given away over 100 cars, and planted millions of trees.

Speaking recently to Beyond The Spotlight, Jimmy admitted that a lot of viewers assume he must come from money because of how much he's able to give away. But that's not the case at all.

"A lot of people think that I just came up in a rich household and I'm a trustfund baby. I get called that a lot," he said.

"In reality, my mom was in the military, she was a single mom and she worked a lot. I basically did YouTube videos for years without making any money.

"When I first started, the videos were horrible, and then they slowly got less and less horrible throughout the years.

"Even when I was making money the first few years, it was nothing. It was scraps. You grind and you grind and you grind, year after year, after year."

And eventually, after all that hard work, something stuck.

He started making a name for himself when he started going 'all in' with crazy challenges like trying to cut a table in half with plastic knives, or microwaving a microwave.

And as soon as he started making money, he just wanted to give it away and do some good.

Jimmy started giving thousands of dollars to homeless people, over-tipping delivery drivers and offering to pay for people's groceries.

As the videos did better, Jimmy earned more money, and gave even bigger chunks of cash away.

"I had more reasons than just wanting to be famous or just wanting money," he explains. "As selfish as it sounds, I like helping people because it just makes me happy and it makes me feel good.

"I like seeing their faces light up, I like seeing how excited they get. A lot of people like watching movies or these other forms of entertainment. But for me, nothing is more entertaining than just seeing someone go from having a rough day to just going like, 'What!?'"

"It's just what I love, it literally is what makes me happy."

MrBeast explained that he simply loves helping other people.

And MrBeast has no signs of slowing down, with big plans for his future.

"In a perfect world, over the next few decades I make tens of millions, hundreds of millions, billions, whatever it is.

"And then when I'm, like, 50, I'm just like: 'All right, I have all this money. And then we just go open up a few thousand homeless shelters or food banks'.

"I don't know what it is. What I do know is I want to help people."
