Megan Fox has joined much of the internet in jumping on the AI selfie bandwagon, but the model couldn't help but ask why most of her portraits were 'naked' as she shared them online.

Twitter, Instagram, TikTok - over the last few days, most of them have been filled with pictures of friends and celebrities looking like they've just stepped straight out of a painting or video game.

Rather than an easy new filter, the pictures have been generated by apps such as Lensa AI, which uses existing selfies and AI to create new images in a variety of styles.

You've probably already seen your pals resembling muscular soldiers or elfin woodland creatures, but this week Fox decided to get involved by sharing pictures of her own AI-generated images.

It's unclear which selfies Fox submitted to the app, but it returned images of her with a variety of hair colours and styles, some with tattoos, some with jewellery, and almost every single one showing off her cleavage.

Alongside the images, Fox wrote: "Were everyone’s avatars equally as sexual? Like, why are most of mine naked??"

Fox's post prompted a lot of responses from fans, with some arguing she was 'hotter as a human', but one Instagram user decided to take it upon themselves to respond to the actor's caption with the comment: "*Sexualizes self all the time literally.*"

Obviously it's absolutely no one's business other than Fox's how she chooses to present herself, but she decided to respond to make clear that her caption about the AI-generated images wasn't actually serious.

She posted: "Sigh. I was being sarcastic. How can anyone think I lack this level of self-awareness[?]"

Though Fox claimed her caption was a joke, she's not the only one to have got sexualised images back from the app, with some users responding to her post to say they'd had a similar experience.

After using the app, BuzzFeed News reporter Kelsey Weekman commented: "Despite submitting photos that didn't show my body below the shoulder, it created cursed images of a cartoon-like cleavage and tiny waist."

Twitter user Brandee Barker shared similar concerns, uploading AI-generated pictures which had created a body for her after she submitted images of her face.

She commented: "Is it just me or are these AI selfie generator apps perpetuating misogyny? Here’s a few I got just based on my photos of my face."

Prisma Labs, which owns Lensa AI, has addressed questions about sexualised images on its website, explaining: "Please note, occasional sexualization is observed across all gender categories, although in different ways."
