Man charged after Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a phone during a live performance

A 27-year-old was arrested over the 'intentional' alleged attack.

A man has been arrested in New York after singer Bebe Rexha was rushed to hospital because a rogue fan threw a phone at her during a performance.

The New York native was performing at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in the Big Apple when a phone flew from within the crowd and hit her across the face.

Videos of the shocking incident show the 33-year-old star, clad in a pink, sparkling outfit, fall to the floor after the cellular device sailed through the air and struck her.

In the clips, Rexha could be seen keeping her head down while her fans were stunned by what had just happened.

A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department has since confirmed a 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault.

"On Sunday, June 18, 2023 at approximately 2200 hours, police were notified of an assault that occurred at the concert space of Pier 17 located at 89 South Street, within the confines of the 1st Precinct," the statement from the NYPD spokesperson said.

"A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a 27-year-old male intentionally threw a cell phone at a 33-year-old female performer on stage, striking her about the face."

Rexha shared two pictures of her injuries.

They continued: "The individual was taken into custody on scene and removed to the 1st Precinct for arrest processing. The aided female was removed by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition."

The singer seemed to require stitches to her face.

She was also left with a doozy of a black eye.

Rexha took to social media to update her fans in the wake of the phone incident, communicating that she is sore but fine with a thumbs up.

She captioned the pic: "I'm good."

Footage of the incident has since been shared on Twitter.

In one clip, it is clear that other fans at Rexha’s concert alerted the security to the man who allegedly threw the phone.

He was pulled out of the crowd and over the venue barrier, while the crew helped Rexha on the stage.

Fans have since condemned the incident, with one person writing online: “Bebe Rexha is quite literally the sweetest and most supportive soul on the planet, what is wrong with you demons?”

Another said: "This is Bebe Rexha being rushed out of the concert venue here in NYC after someone threw a f**king phone and hit her face as she was leaving the stage. We were all having a hell of a good time and so was Bebe, we were all having a blast, I mean who would even do that?"
