Singer and actor Lizzo has shot back at internet trolls and ‘body shamers’ who are making comments on her appearance.

The Truth Hurts and Juice singer, 34, has always shared messages of body positivity across her social media channels.

However, recently, she has been forced to call out 'deluded' commenters who are not supportive of her shape.

While not hitting out at anybody in particular, Lizzo took to TikTok to share a video calling her body ‘art’.

“This discourse around bodies is officially tired,” Lizzo says at the opening of the video.

“I have seen comments go from, ‘oh my god I liked you when you were thick, why did you lose weight?’ To ‘oh my gosh why did you get a BBL [Brazilian Butt Lift]? I liked your body before,” she continues.

Lizzo says he body is a work of art.

"To 'Oh my gosh you're so big, you need to lose weight for your health' to 'Oh my gosh you are so little, you need to get ass or titties' to 'Oh my gosh, why did you get all that work done? It's just too much work’.”

In the video, she continues to ask rhetorically, "Are we okay? Do you see the delusion? Do we realise that artists are not here to fit into your beauty standards? Artists are here to make art, and this body is art.

"I'm gonna do whatever I want with this body,” she finishes.

However, this video isn’t the first time that the Michigan native has exclaimed her love for her figure.

In March, she told People that she is ‘embracing’ her appearance and is thinking more positively about it every day.

“I think I have a really hot body! I’m a body icon, and I’m embracing that more and more every day.”

“I may not be one person’s body type just like, say, Kim Kardashian might not be someone’s ideal,” she continued. “But she’s a body icon and has created a modern-day beauty standard.’

“And what I’m doing is stepping into my confidence and my power to create my own beauty standard. And one day that will just be the standard.”

Lizzo regularly calls out 'body shaming' trolls via her TikTok.

As well as championing her own body, Lizzo wants to bring positivity to others through her underwear company, Yitty.

According to the Grammy award winner herself, Yitty is ‘shapewear reinvented’ and stocks gender-affirming underwear in sizes ranging from 6X to XS.

“As early as I started to learn to be ashamed of my body, I was in shapewear,” Lizzo told Harper's Bazaar in 2022.

“I was in girdles, and I was binding my stomach,” she continued. “I thought it was super normal to be that dissatisfied and that willing to hide my body.”

“The industry is changing for bigger bodies. But very slowly,” says Lizzo.
