Josh Peck criticised after he admits Jeanette McCurdy blocked his number

The actor has been slammed after claiming that the fellow Nickelodeon star blocked him

Josh Peck has been criticised after admitting that Jeanette McCurdy blocked his number.

The actor has been called out for comments made about the fellow Nickelodeon star following a recorded episode for his podcast, Good Guys, that never aired.

McCurdy had spoken in an interview with Peck on the day of her book release, but had later asked him to delete it and to never release it to the public.

The former Drake & Josh actor spoke to guest Tana Mongeau on Episode 33 of his podcast that aired earlier this month (10 April).

The pair spoke about an array of different topics but wound up on the subject of Nickelodeon big boss, Dan Schneider.

Schneider currently has an avalanche of allegations against him, accusing him of inappropriate behaviour and misconduct on set with various child actors.

Mongeau then asked Peck about some of his own personal encounters with Schneider and what is was like working with him in the early years of his career.

She then proceeded to bring up the subject of McCurdy, who has been open about her experiences with the network boss in her controversial memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died.

In the book, the former iCarly star claimed that 'the creator' of the show shouted at her frequently and forced her to reshoot her first on-screen kiss multiple times.

At this point in the podcast, Peck recalled an anecdote between himself and McCurdy when they allegedly sat down to record an episode together.

According to Peck, McCurdy got cold feet last minute and demanded that the content they filmed be scrapped altogether.

Mongeau then said that she read the memoir and added that she thought it was amazing before Peck jumped in with: "So did we, despite what Jennette says."

Peck's co-host Ben Soffer continued: "She was our first ever guest, like, the day that she released her book. She came on, it was an amazing get for us.

"We were truly good guys, unbelievable interview, spoke about everything that she wanted to, nothing that she didn't want to."

"She owes us..."

"It ended, and she told us not to run it," he claimed.

Peck added: "There is a small update that happened yesterday. So, us being the good guys we are, said 'Jennette, no problem, we'll kill it. Do you wanna come back on?'"

According to the pair, they received 'no response' at all.

"So four or five months later, we got [Tana], we got [Hilary Duff], we're killing it..." he said.

Peck went on to claim that McCurdy 'owes' him for the ordeal, adding: "All I wrote to Jennette after six months was, 'Hi, hi'. I got a green bubble,

"Am I blocked? I think I might be blocked...or she was on a 12-hour flight. Here's hoping."

"She literally doesn’t owe him anything."

Clips from the podcast have since gone viral with an avalanche of people defending McCurdy and slamming the former child actor for his remarks.

One Twitter user posted: "Oh Josh, because nothing screams friendship like discussing your friend's traumatic experience on a public platform without their consent."

"Exactly what does she 'owe' them? Because if it’s money or whatever do you not have a manager that manages stuff like that?" queried another.

A third penned: "She literally doesn’t owe him anything," while a final Twitter user added: "She doesn't owe him anything. It's her choice, he needs to respect it."
