Jessica Simpson addresses rumour she's been using diabetes drug Ozempic to lose weight

The star has addressed the allegations

Jessica Simpson has addressed the rumour she's been using diabetes drug Ozempic to lose weight.

The 'Irresistible' hit-maker has responded to the allegations that she's been using the controversial weight loss jab, which is reportedly a fairly common practice in Hollywood, with famous users of the drug including Elon Musk. This comes alongside rumours that Kim Kardashian also hopped on the trend to fit into the infamous Marilyn Monroe gown at the 2022 Met Gala.

Simpson, 42, addressed the Ozempic speculations, whilst opening up about her weight loss journey and how she navigates being in the public eye.

In an interview with Bustle, first published yesterday (6 July), the star shot down the accusations that she was using Ozempic.

Such rumors first surfaced after a sponsored post for Pottery Barn Kids - where she gave a tour of her daughter Birdie’s bedroom - went viral back in 2022, leading to an avalanche of body-shaming comments.

It seems however that rumors were all they were.

Simpson stated: "Oh Lord. I mean, it is not [Ozempic] it’s willpower.

"I’m like, do people want me to be drinking again? Because that’s when I was heavier. Or they want me to be having another baby? My body can’t do it."

The mother-of-three continued to say she felt 'fortunate' to have 'been every size'.

Simpson went on: "Am I going to let the negativity derail me? No, I’m too old for that. I am too connected to myself right now to let that derail me.

"It doesn't mean that it doesn’t hurt."

Jessica Simpson denied the Ozempic allegations.

And this is by no means the first time Simpson has responded to public criticisms surrounding her weight after releasing a lengthy statement to Instagram following the Pottery Barn Kids backlash in November 2022.

Accompanied by a clip of herself singing in her studio to 'ground myself and heal', the singer told her followers: "As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise…peoples' comments and judgements can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging 'you will never be good enough'."

The star went on to reveal: "The most important thing I have learned through the last 5yrs without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it.

"I am capable of pretty much anything I care enough about to put my mind to."

Simpson has admitted to previously using diet pills in her memoir Open Book published back in 2020.

In the tell-all, the star opened up about the pressure she faced in the industry, writing: "I immediately went on an extremely strict diet and started taking diet pills, which I would do for the next 20 years."
