Pornhub's year in review reveals the most searched categories and some may surprise you

We've reached the end of 2024, and that can only mean one thing: it's year-in-review time.
Sure, it feels like an awfully long year in terms of news and what's been going on in the world, but one thing stays constant: people browsing for X-rated material online.
While many people count down the days to find out which band has topped their Spotify Wrapped list, the world's largest porn site has shared the most-searched categories for 2024.
So what's the top result for those looking to, er, unwind?

Pornhub has revealed their list of the most popular categories for 2024.
Taking the top spot once again is 'hentai', which remains at the top spot for the fourth year running.
Not only that, but some connected categories like 'animation' and '3D' also showed a boost in popularity, with +28 percent and +19 percent respectively.
The 'realistic animated' category also increased by +78 percent.
Second place was claimed by the 'MILF' in what could be described as a successful comeback, reclaiming the spot from 'Lesbian' which fell to fourth place behind 'pinay'.
'Anal' landed in fifth place, followed closely by 'big ass'.
Noticing a theme yet?
Anime followed in seventh place, which had also jumped up in popularity along with 'hentai' and 'animated' adult material.
There were some other surprises, with a big jump up in the popularity for 'cosplay' content and 'real amateur' showing conflicting desires for more real-life content, battling against fantasy characters.
'Wife' also surged with +12 percent, which Pornhub puts down to 'defining trends of Pornhub Wives'.
Searches like 'ethical porn' also increased, with +92 percent, and 'respectful sex' up +61 percent.
In terms of the most popular stars, Angela White takes the number one place as the most-searched pornstar of 2024, with Abella Danger in second and Violet Myers in third place.
They also revealed that the average Pornhub user is 38-years-old, with a press release stating: "The 18-24 age group made up the biggest portion of traffic, with 27% of all traffic falling into that category. Following closely behind was the 25-34 age group, which accounted for 24% of all traffic.
"Together, the 18 to 35 group makes up over half of Pornhub’s visitors, even after giving up -2 percentage points in 2024 to the over 35 crowd."
There's also a difference based on the age group searching, with 18-24 favouring 'vertical video', 'hentai' and 'gaming'.
Aged 25-34 are searching for 'FMM', 'Tattooed women' and 'Parody'.
Gen X (35-53) are looking at 'compilations', 'role play' and 'feet'.
While Boomers (55+) are all about 'strap ons', 'gangbangs' and 'double penetration'.
