AI shows 'average couples' from each country and people are outraged

AI has generated what the 'average couples from around the world' supposedly look like.

While some people use artificial intelligence (AI) to help revolutionise healthcare, others use it to cause absolute havoc in the comments section.

With the help of cutting edge generative AI by Midjourney, someone has generated images of what the 'average couples from around the world' supposedly look like.

Watch below:

The images have since been shared on Reddit and - as you might have guessed from the headline - some people are having a hard time agreeing with what they are seeing.

Here's what AI think the 'average' American couple look like:

Americans were not happy with this one.

"Hey the Americans aren't fat this time," one person said, as another added: "Yay! no added overweight for Americans and Mexicans like you did the last time. We're learning."

Let's just say, the Brits were less than impressed.

Brits questioned why the average couple look like something from the Peaky Blinders.

"Yes the British one looks a little OTT. Not necessarily the people but the clothing and background are just stupid," said one person.

Another pointed out: "Those outfits are very 1940s. Also if we’re talking averages, making them red headed is wrong as less than 10% of the population have red hair."

A third added: "The female is definitely a strawberry blonde but the male is a mousey brown which isn't uncommon but yes a darker brown is more common.

"I still have a much bigger issue with the 40s patriotic theme."

Other countries also had outdated styles of dress.

Chinese viewers commented on the dated outfits.

"The Chinese one makes them look straight out of the 1500s," said one Redditor.

"The style of clothing the Chinese dude is wearing hasn’t been daily worn in centuries lol."

Someone else explained that the AI had dressed the Chinese couple in traditional 'Hanfu', clothing.

"It was the original clothing of the Han Chinese people, but they were not allowed to wear it [for several hundred years] so it somewhat died out," they said.

"It’s been revived though."

Some countries, such as Canada, had a more flattering portrayal.

Canadians were largely pleasantly surprised with theirs.

One person said: "If this was what the average Canadian man looked like, I’d be moving to Canada right now."

Another added: "Yeah. The Canadian man caught my eye too."

"The Canadian couple looks fun," someone else said.

Italy didn't look too bad either.

Of course the Italians were good looking.

Well, amid the never-ending capabilities of AI, it seems the biggest tech chiefs in the game want to pause its development due to its 'profound risks', which I'm sure didn't include p***ing people off on Reddit.

Billionaire, Elon Musk has joined the likes of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn all signed an open letter demanding that all labs training AI systems stop for at least six months earlier this year.

"Recent months have seen AI labs locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no-one – not even their creators – can understand, predict or reliably control," the letter reads.

"Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable."
