A man was left understandably disheartened after he put hours of work into his car for it to be confiscated.

Ishwar Deen splurged $3,000 (250000 Indian Rupee) to make his rather basic-looking car into a 'helicopter'.

He and his brother, Parmeshwar, worked 'day and night' for two months on the conversion, and added a propellor and a tail boom to his Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.

Arguably the whole thing looked more like a rusty shark upon completion, but Deen still gets points for effort in my books.

He'd imaginatively named the car, 'car copter'.

Deen, from northern state of Uttar Pradesh, was on the way to a local workshop to get his newly renovated vehicle painted when he was pulled over by police.

They then seized the car as it allegedly violated India's motor rules and he was fined 2,000 rupees ($24).

An investigation has since been launched as it's said that the 'car-copter' was modified without proper authorisation under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The man spent $3,000 on the conversion.

Deen has since insisted that he didn't convert the car with the intention of driving it round on a daily basis, but wanted to rent it out as a special attraction for events such as a weddings.

Apparently he'll only get his vehicle back if he agrees to dismantle its modifications.

Speaking to ANI News, Deen said: "Modified cars such as jeeps are running on the roads everywhere in Pratapgarh and Bihar without any restrictions.

"It was only meant to be used during weddings and will not ply on the roads otherwise.

"I had transformed the car to use it for booking during the wedding seasons so that our family will be able to earn some extra money," he added.

Police have since confirmed that a modified car was recently seized.

Locals were 'amazed' by the unique conversion.

Officer Vishal Pandey said, as per ANI News: "[19 March], a modified car was seized. Due to the enforcement of the Model code of Conduct. Police have been conducting vehicle checks and this modified car was intercepted by traffic police during one such inspection."

According to a local source, it wasn't long for the unique vehicle to grab police's attention.

"As soon as they hit the road, they caught the attention of the police," they said.

"However, before their plan could be executed, the police spotted them."

They added that when the locals saw the 'car-copter', people were 'amazed'.
