Man accidentally drives 100 miles without his wife after stopping to use toilet

An oblivious husband managed to forget his wife on a Christmas day journey, only realizing his error 100 miles later.

One unlucky husband made the blunder to end all blunders by forgetting his wife and driving off into the night, on Christmas day no less.

To make matters worse, the husband failed to notice his wife’s absence for 100 miles, forcing her to walk miles after being stranded.

In defense of the oblivious husband, Boontom Chaimoon, 55, believed his wife was in the backseat sleeping.

The incident happened in Thailand in the early hours of Christmas day in 2022 and Boontom is probably still apologizing for his mistake.

Boontom and his wife, Amnuay Chaimoon, 49, were driving through the night to her hometown in the province of Maha Sarakham.

Just like with any road trip, occasionally nature calls and Boontom had to pull over to go to the bathroom at around 3:00 A.M.

After Boontom had stepped out of the car, his wife decided that she too would take a bathroom break and got out of the car to enter the nearby jungle to relieve herself.

When she returned, she found the car was missing and her husband was nowhere to be seen. Even worse for Amnuay, she had left her phone in the car and had no money on her person.

She had no choice but to trek 13 miles in the middle of the night into the centre of Kabin Buri. At about 5 in the morning, she found a police station and pleaded with police to help her find her husband.

To make matters worse, she did not know her husband’s phone number by heart and called her own phone 20 times to no avail.

She explained to the police that the pair have been on good terms and there was no reason to believe her husband drove off without her intentionally.

When Boontom finally realized his error, he was 100 miles away and had to retrace his steps to figure out at what point they could have separated.

Fortunately for him, Amnuary does not hold a grudge for the bizarre incident and the pair have been able to move past it. The couple have been married for over 27 years and have a 26-year-old son.

While this odd story is a testament to Amnuay’s forgiving nature, it is also quite the cautionary tale to always check the backseat when you get in your car to avoid losing your wife.
