Missing dad reappears 30 years later with the same clothes and no memory of what happened

A man went missing some 30 years ago, only to reappear out of nowhere with no recollection of anything that happened to him.

Vasile Gorgos is a Romanian cattle farmer, and would commonly take trips to sell his cattle.

The farmer, now 95, would routinely contact his family while on these trips. But one day 30 years ago Vasile went off, seemingly as usual, and then simply vanished without a trace.

Vasile disappeared in 1991, and would normally be gone for just a few days before returning home.

But the mystery of what on earth happened to Vasile remains unsolved, not least because he has no recollection of what actually happened to him while he was away.

In fact, he even claims that he had been at home the entire time that he was missing.

Vasile's family had contacted police following his disappearance, and a search was launched which ultimately proved fruitless.

Then, in September 2021, Vasile simply reappeared by the gate of his farm, seemingly out of nowhere.

After his reappearance a car was spotted speeding away, but the registration wasn't recorded.

To add to the mystery, Vasile was wearing the exact same clothes as when he had vanished. There was even still a train ticket from when he vanished in his pocket.

Understandably, as the weeks turned into months his family assumed that Vasile had died.

A number of memorial services were held for him during his 30 year absence.

Upon his return witnesses said that he was confused, but appeared to be otherwise healthy.

After medical checks, doctors confirmed that Vasile is healthy, despite some neurological problems which are common for his age.

Reports have said that he could remember he was born in 1928, that his wife died, and his father was a famous merchant.

However, he found it difficult to recognise his son and daughter.

His son said that he hadn't even recognised his father at first, and told local media outlets that he doesn't understand what happened.

“We don’t understand him. He doesn’t know what he’s saying," he said. "He talks to us about the period when he was involved in raising and selling cows. We ask him one thing, and he tells us another.

"Who knows where he has been, who kept him, maybe he was forced to work… who knows what kind of life he led?”

The family have since been pleading for anyone who may have information about what happened to Vasile to come forward.
