A weather alert has been issued to a whopping 60 million Americans this Christmas period, with sleet and even heavy snow set to sweep across the country.
While a 'White Christmas' seems like a pure myth for many these days, many in the US are set to be hit by festive-like weather in the coming days as we approach New Year's Eve and 2026.
So, you're going to want to be wrapped up warm in the coming days if you are heading out in the days between Christmas and New Year, where no one knows what day of the week it is.
The National Weather Service has said the areas of Broome, Cortland, Chenango, Ostego and Delaware could be hit by a 'winter storm', a warning that is in effect from 1pm local time on Friday (December 26), up until 7am on Saturday (December 27).

Meanwhile, a 'winter weather advisory' is in force for the counties of Tioga, Tompkins, and Susquehanna, also from 1pm local time on Friday till 7am on Saturday.
It's believed New York City, Long Island and other parts of the 'Big Apple' could see between three and six inches of snow come Saturday, with the same being said for the likes of Pennsylvania and New England.
It's suggested that southwestern New York and northeastern Pennsylvania could even get a foot of snow or even more by the weekend, perfect for a snow ball fight with the siblings after some arguing over the Christmas dinner table!
AccuWeather meteorologist Bernie Rayno said: "Accumulating snow is coming to New York City with the storm from late Friday to early Saturday in New York City. Given the current estimated track of the storm, enough snow to shovel and plow seems highly likely."

Broome, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, and Delaware Counties could see up to ten inches of snow in the coming days, while the rest of the region could experience anything between three and six inches of snow.
Highs are expected to peak in and around the mid-20s on Friday and even reach the teens into the evening and overnight. However, come Saturday, temperatures could reach the high 20s, with an increased risk of rain into Sunday (December 28) and the rest of the weekend.
The National Weather Service is warning of a risk of freezing rain to round off the weekend, though it remains unclear at this time the exact locations that could be hit worse.
All this is bad news for those traveling post-christmas, as if traveling at this time (one of the busiest weekends of the season) isn't bad enough, several major airports are under severe weather warnings: LaGuardia, Newark, Philadelphia International Airport and JFK.
If you can, might be best to just give in and stay where you are until the new year.
