Flight diverted over 'biohazard' leaving crew 'vomiting' and passengers asking for masks

Nothing says travelling in style like throwing up into a vomit bag at 35,000 ft

In what might be the worst way to start a holiday, a flight had to be diverted after both crew and passengers started vomiting due to a ‘biohazard’.

When you go travelling and make a flight in the nick of time you kind of just want to sit back, relax and enjoy the flight.

Maybe catch up on a book your reading, a TV show you downloaded or listen to your favorite podcast.

Well one flight was less than ideal with multiple people becoming unwell. So unwell in fact, the flight had to be diverted in order for authorities to deal with the situation.

A United Airlines flight, Flight 2477, was bound for Boston from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport Sunday morning but the flight didn’t quite make it.

The plane had to touch down in Washington DC so it could undergo a massive deep clean, the airline said.

According to FlightAware the plane left George Bush Intercontinental Airport after 9.30 a.m. and arrived in Washington around 1:30 P.M.

The situation was so severe that the pilot had to request the diversion after being informed that both crew and passengers were feeling unwell.

“I talked to the crew and it sounds like it’s quite bad back there. The crew is vomiting, and passengers all around are asking for masks,” a crew member could be heard saying in an audio recording from the flight.

“With this kind of being a biohazard I think we need to get this plane on the ground asap.”

It is not quite clear what the biohazard is and UNILAD has contacted United Airlines for more details.

When the plane touched down in Washington Dulles Airport, none of the plane’s 155 passengers or its six crew members required medical attention.

“The aircraft is currently undergoing a deep clean and we are working to get customers on their way to Boston soon,” the airline told the New York post.

This sort of thing isn’t all that rare, it may surprise you to know.

Some flights have previously been forced to touch down after other unfortunate smells filled the flight.

One Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to Barcelona saw passengers deal with one passenger who just couldn’t seem to hold it in.

Passengers were two hours into their eight-hour journey when a pretty foul odour began making its way through the cabin.

One very VERY unlucky soul suffered an intense and sudden bout of diarrhoea and failed to make it to the toilet, with the person letting their bowels loose down the aisle and all over their pants. Grim stuff indeed.
