60 Minutes gets ready to air shocking Trump report amid public claim by host that political stories were being 'supervised'

CBS is planning on dropping a bombshell report on the POTUS tonight

CBS is preparing to drop a shocking report on Donald Trump amid claims that political stories were being 'supervised'.

Host of the long-running show 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley recently slammed CBS News' parent company, Paramount, and its apparent business deal with the White House.

Pelley stunned viewers last month when his criticism of his bosses went to air as he alleged that those working on the show have been targeted for how they report on topics, particularly around reports on Donald Trump and the president's administration.

The reporter, who has worked for CBS News for more than 30 years, said the station's stories have always been 'controversial' but were 'accurate and fair' under executive producer Bill Owens.

Owens had stepped down from his role just a week before.

"But our parent company Paramount is trying to complete a merger, the Trump administration must approve it," Pelley continued, before stating that Paramount 'began to supervise our content' to the point Owens 'felt he lost the independence that honest journalism requires'.

While he stated no stories had been blocked outright, he continued to praise his former boss.

"He covered the world, covered combat, the White House, his was a quest to open minds, not close them," Pelley said.

“No one here is happy about it but in resigning Bill proved one thing, he was the right person to lead 60 Minutes all along.”

The comments came as Trump had previously slammed the show, taking to Truth Social to slam it as a ‘dishonest Political Operative simply disguised as ‘News’'.

To this end, the president has filed a $20 billion in a lawsuit against CBS and its parent company, Paramount Global, alleging election interference over its handling of a 60 Minutes interview last year with then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump's lawsuit accuses the show's producers of editing the interview in October to try to sway public opinion in the Democrat's favor.

Now, the program is planning to drop a bombshell report tonight (Sunday May 4) titled 'The Rule of the Law.'

The segment is reportedly tipped to scrutinize Trump's hefty executive orders against law firms.

The description reads: "On the campaign trail, President Trump vowed to wield the power of the presidency to go after his perceived enemies.

"Now in the White House, Trump is using executive orders to target some of the biggest law firms in the country that he accuses of 'weaponizing' the justice system against him."

The broadcaster is also facing an investigation by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) into whether the Harris interview breached 'news distortion' regulations.

Among the complaints were the suggestion that the station violated the law by cherry-picking Harris' answers when she was probed about a Middle East policy.

The FCC is also handling complaints about whether ABC News moderated the TV pre-election debate between Joe Biden and Trump - and has reinstated further complaints against NBC for permitting Harris to appear on Saturday Night Live before the election.

In Owens' resignation latter, he cited corporate interference and stated he was not 'allowed' to run the show 'as I have always run it', reports the Daily Mail.

UNILAD has previously contacted Paramount and CBS News for comment.
