Oklahoma police has revealed it received a 911 call from a 10-year-old boy after he woke up to find his family dead.

On Monday (April 22), Oklahoma City Police received a 911 call at 9:35am from a 10-year-old boy residing at 2804 Mirage Street in Yukon, Oklahoma.

The boy told authorities he'd woken up that morning and discovered his family - mom, 39-year-old Lindsay Candy, dad Jonathon Candy, 42, and three siblings, 18-year-old Dylan Candy, 14-year-old Ethan Candy and 12-year-old Lucas Candy - dead.

Oklahoma Police's report on the incident states responding officers immediately attended the scene where the 10-year-old was found waiting out front.

They then 'made entry into the home where they indeed found the five people listed above to be deceased - 'the five beyond saving', Oklahoma City Police Sergeant Gary Knight added in a press conference.

"All five had been shot to death," the report states.

Investigators immediately interviewed neighbors, other family members and friends.

Authorities believe the father of the family, Jonathon, became involved 'in an altercation with his wife' and later 'armed himself with a gun and killed' Lindsay and three of his children 'before turning the gun on himself'.

The 10-year-old boy who rung police - the fourth child - was reported as being 'unharmed' and 'was released to family members at the scene'.

"We don't know why he was left unarmed," Sgt Knight said. "I know that's a question everybody has. It's a question we have too. In the end nobody's ever going to know the answer to that."

Sgt Knight said it 'remains a mystery as to what caused Mr Candy to murder his wife and three children' noting police have 'no calls to that residence regarding any type of domestic abuse, no history from them showing any type of domestic problems being reported' to police.

However, Sgt Knight resolved: "But make no mistake about it, what happened in that residence was nothing short of a massacre. Those children were hunted down and killed."

The Candy family issued a statement to news outlets which reads as quoted by Fox News: "Our entire family has been left shattered and confused with so many questions we won’t ever have answers to.

"Jonathon was the one whose jokes and goofy attitude kept everyone smiling. Aside from these events, his children and wife were his entire life. I simply can’t fathom what went on but please, hug your family tight. It’s going to be a very long healing process for everyone affected."

The incident is being investigated as a quadruple murder/suicide investigation. The police report adds: "Anyone with information should call the Homicide Tip-Line at 405/297-1200."

UNILAD has contacted Oklahoma Police Department for comment.
