Nostradamus has been dead for centuries, but his name still sparks panic whenever a grim prediction resurfaces.

Now, eerie interpretations of his writings suggest a major celebrity could die in 2026.

Born Michel de Nostredame, the French apothecary and physician published Les Prophéties in 1555, a book filled with cryptic messages many believe predict the future.

Over the years, supporters have linked his verses to historical tragedies, including Princess Diana’s death, the rise of Adolf Hitler, and 9/11.

Whether coincidence or clever interpretation, these claims have kept Nostradamus firmly embedded in pop culture and conspiracy circles.

Now, with 2026 just days away, attention has shifted to what the future may hold, and some interpreters believe Nostradamus hints at it being an dark year.

Without further ado, let us dive into the four chilling prophecies, starting with the 'major celebrity' that many believe the physician mentions in his work.

Celebrity struck down?

One passage, in particular, has sparked alarm due to its implications for a high-profile death. In the 26th verse of Century I, Nostradamus wrote that 'the great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt', The Sun reports.

The phrase 'great man' could refer to a globally recognised celebrity, or simply a famous politician or royal figure. The reference to daylight has intensified fears of a sudden, public tragedy, possibly an assassination occurring during a high-profile event or major public appearance.

Bees swarming

Another passage speaks of 'the great swarm of bees will arise… by night the ambush' the Daily Express notes, which some believe symbolises media frenzy or collective power turning against an individual.

Some believe these figures could be Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, both of whom may experience victories in 2026.

Switzerland to be bloodied

Ticino is the southernmost canton of Switzerland. The specific naming of the Swiss region could refer to renewed conflict in Europe, some believe, as Ticino borders with Italy.

Adding fuel to the theories of conflict, elsewhere in his 26th quatrains Nostradamus speaks of war.

"Seven months great war, people dead through evil / Rouen, Evreux the King will not fail," he wrote, per the Daily Mail.

Mars 'ruling his path'

Because Mars is the ancient god of war, many believe this verse signals further turmoil in 2026.

Nostradamus wrote: "When Mars rules his path among the stars, human blood will sprinkle the sanctuary. Three fires rise from the eastern sides, while the West loses its light in silence."

The explicit mention of both the East and the West has led some interpreters to suggest the passage points toward an emerging conflict between Western Europe and Asia.
