After more than a decade of allegedly shying away from paying child support, a Kentucky dad has been cuffed by cops.

Dominic Weaver was arrested last week as he disembarked a cruise trip in Miami, Florida, before being flown back to Louisville where he is set to face his charges.

The 47-year-old was caught up after detectives from the child support division teamed up with Miami Police Department after the accused fled the jurisdiction to enjoy a vacation at sea.

Mike O'Connell, an attorney for Jefferson County - which the Kentucky city of Louisville falls under, told WDRB that Weaver owed more than $100,000 in back child support and gave a debrief of his case.

O'Connell said: "I don't know when he left, but he fled the jurisdiction, and from the date of his sentence until today, and even today, he's not paid one cent of child support.

"He was found, fortunately, but this is the interesting part by the Miami Police getting off a cruise ship last week in Miami.

"This is one of the most egregious events that brings something to light that I think I've ever seen."

According to the attorney, the child support division have lodged four cases against Weaver with 'two more of those are ready for indictment again of more felonies'.

"I think it's somewhere in the $114,000 to $120,000," O'Connell added.

Back in 2021, Weaver owed slightly more than $99,000 in child support and faced a number of years behind bars for allegedly evading the law, according to the county attorney's office.

"I'm going to ask the court at the next opportunity to revoke his sentence and sentencing to four years in the state penitentiary for this offense," O'Connell continued.

"Our office does everything we can to work with people that have this obligation.

"I mean everything we can, you know, to the extent of even helping find employment and do things like that."

Weaver is scheduled to appear in court on January 6.

Meanwhile, in contrast to Weaver's case, Britney Spears finally finished paying child support to her ex-husband Kevin Federline after her youngest son, Jayden, graduated from high school at the end of last month.

It is estimated that the 43-year-old singer has paid a staggering $5 million to Federline over the last 17 years for their two kids since they split up.

Obviously, the courts take into account your income and other factors... but still that's a lot of money to pay out.
