Chilling footage filmed at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade shows the moment football fans took down a suspected shooter.

Three people are now in custody after shots were fired at the parade in Kansas City, Missouri yesterday (14 February), just as the Kansas City Chiefs were wrapping up the celebrations of their second Super Bowl win in two years.

One person died as a result of the shooting, and 21 other people, including children, were also shot.

Videos have been emerging online since the shots were first fired at about 2pm local time, with one video filmed from above showing dozens of fans starting to run away from the gunfire.

However, while many attempt to flee the scene, some heroic football fans can be seen jumping on another person.

The video claims to show fans tackling one of the shooters and holding them to the ground in an attempt to stop the violence.

At a news conference after the shooting, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed police were aware of a video in which fans tackle another person.

However, police are still investigating whether the person who was tackled in the video is one of the suspects involved in the shooting.

"I do want to comment on the question that I got earlier about a video of some fans tackling someone," Graves said. "We do have three persons detained and under investigation for today's incident. We are working to determine if one of the three are the one that was in that video were fans assisted police."

Social media users have praised the fans who are believed to have risked their lives to help prevent further injury, with one X account calling for those who tackled the shooter to be 'rewarded with season tickets' for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Police arrived to help with the suspect.

"Please comment below or dm us if you happen to know who we captured rushing in to the rescue," the Fantasy Fanatics X account wrote.

One Bellevue man, Paul Contreras, has been identified by KETV as one of the fans involved in tackling a suspected shooter.

Contreras was at the parade with his three daughters, and recalled how the family thought they'd heard fireworks before realizing it was actually gunfire.

Contreras then spotted someone running, and another man calling to stop him.

"I didn't hesitate," Contreras said.

Contreras told the outlet he saw a gun fall out of the alleged shooter's hand as he and another bystander tackled him to the ground.

"The whole time he's fighting to get up and run away," Contreras said. "We're fighting each other, you know. We're fighting to keep him down and he's fighting to get up."

The incident is still under investigation. Officials have said they do not believe the motive was terrorism.
