Joe Rogan and Bernie Sanders in surprising agreement as $79,000,000,000,000 taken from 90% of Americans

'Shout out to Bernie for actually showing up on a podcast and having a real discussion'

Joe Rogan amazed podcast listeners when he and US Senator Bernie Sanders agreed on one particularly pressing subject matter.

Former congressman and current Vermont Senator, Bernie Sanders, joined Rogan for the latest episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Tuesday (June 24).

The almost two-hour episode saw the pair discuss everything from AI and the future of work to universal education and healthcare reform.

And there was one topic that the pair agreed on, in a moment that has since gone viral on Twitter.

That subject was the national minimum wage - as Rogan said: "I think you and I are in agreement on all these issues. The minimum wage in this country is ridiculous - $7 - what?"

Sanders agreed it was 'insane', as Rogan used an interesting measurement to truly put it into perspective.

He began: "How much is a sub at Jimmy John's? Some guy just did a TikTok video where he bought a sub for $25. So imagine, that's your lunch.

"Imagine you have to work three and a half hours just to pay for a sandwich. Imagine how insane that is - like how do you eat?

"How do you eat dinner? How you eat lunch, breakfast?"

Sanders agreed, adding: "I have talked to people who make 10, 12 bucks an hour - trying to raise a kid."

On raising the minimum wage, Rogan said: "The argument against that is these are entry level jobs that are supposed to be for kids."

Sanders agreed that while that’s true in some cases, it certainly isn’t for all.

"But if you have grown adults working those jobs, now it becomes disgusting," Rogan added, to which Sanders agreed.

"We put a lot of pressure, we tried to raise the federal minimum wage to $17 an hour," the senator said.

"That's a reasonable amount of money," Rogan said, caveating: "It's still difficult to live - at least you get a sandwich in under two hours worth of work."

While plenty of social media users also agreed with what the pair were saying, others seemed sick of hearing the same sentiments repeated over and over again.

"We've been hearing this line for decades, and we keep getting poorer. Nothing will ever be done to help regular people!" one YouTube commenter said.

But others applauded Sanders for his efforts on the podcast.

"Shout out to Bernie for actually showing up on a podcast and having a real discussion," one typed.

Another declared: "Say what you will about Joe Rogan, but giving Bernie Sanders a platform to speak directly, unfiltered, for over an hour was one of the most important podcast moments in modern politics.

"It’s rare to see a major candidate treated like a human being instead of a soundbite."

Citing information from the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023 was 15 times higher compared to 1975, and was 27 percent larger than in 2018.

Previously, Sanders had highlighted how research from RAND found a whopping $79 trillion has been redistributed from the bottom 90 percent of Americans to the top one percent across the last five decades.

With the growth of inequality over the last few decades, the bottom 90 percent went from receiving two thirds of all taxable income to 49.53 and 46.83 percent in 2015 and 2019, meaning the top 10 percent received a share of income three percent larger over the span of four years.

The author concluded that if we had the same income distribution as in 1975, the majority of workers could have received an extra $3.9 trillion in 2023.

Sanders shone a spotlight this data in a press release at the beginning of March, adding that the massive wealth distribution was 'profoundly damaging to our democracy'.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump vowed to 'Make America Wealthy Again', announcing on so-called 'Liberation Day' (April 2) a hefty list of global tariffs on foreign goods in a bid to boost the economy, jobs, and domestic industries.

Speaking from the White House, the POTUS said American workers have 'suffered gravely', having been 'ripped off for more than 50 years'.
