Jeffrey Epstein's prison cell has been revealed after footage of the inside was released to the public by the US government.

The latest batch of the Epstein files has been published by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), which also contained a shocking video of the inside of the disgraced financer’s jail cell.

Previously, the FBI released the footage as well as a statement that claimed Epstein died by suicide at New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center, claiming its investigation revealed a ‘conclusion that Epstein died by suicide is further supported by video footage from the common area of the Special Housing Unit (SHU) where Epstein was housed at the time of his death’.

It caused more speculation around Epstein’s death, which some believe was a murder and not a suicide.

In the wake of his death, the investigation and release of files has named a number of celebrities and influential people, including Elon Musk, Andrew Mountbatten Winsor, President Donald Trump and Bill Gates.

Inclusion of names in the Epstein files does not constitute wrongdoing.

As talks of his cell and death have died down in recent months, the new wave of three million files, 180,000 images, and 2,000 videos published by the US Justice Department, have also contained information about his jail cell.

This time, however, it is a total look of the inside of the cell Epstein was held in, and the place where he ultimately died.

In the clip, you can see the tiny room, a bare metal bunk bed with a ladder accessible for the top bed, a metal urinal, place to wash hands and what appears to be a plastic desk attached to the wall and a matching stool.

The video shows the cramped conditions he lived under, after being charged with sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors in July 2019.

Just two months later in August, he was found dead in his cell, and it was reported to be suicide.

With regards to the old footage which the DOJ stated the 'full raw and enhanced videos' were available to see, experts claimed three minutes were cut from security footage of the entrance to his cell.

the DOJ claimed: "As DOJ’s Inspector General explained in 2023, anyone entering or attempting to enter the tier where Epstein’s cell was located from the SHU common area would have been captured by this footage.

"The FBI’s independent review of this footage confirmed that from the time Epstein was locked in his cell at around 10:40 pm on August 9, 2019, until around 6:30 am the next morning, nobody entered any of the tiers in the SHU."
