A missing teenager has been reunited with his family after an astonishing scoop online.

Troy Coleman, 17, went missing on May 21 in Mt Morris Township in Michigan leaving his loved ones fraught.

A search was launched to locate the missing teen, who remained missing until a lead came from an unlikely source.

It came up when a Twitch streamer spoke up revealing that they had been contacted by a person who was claiming to be Troy's brother.

The contact claimed that they had seen someone in a livestream the streamer had run in Miami, who they were convinced looked just like their missing sibling.

By an extraordinary stroke of luck, the 17-year-old has been found in Miami and is set to be reunited with his family in Michigan.

In a statement, police from his hometown said: "The Flint Township Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who shared the missing person information about Troy Coleman.

"He has been found safe in Miami, Florida and we are working with local authorities to arrange his safe return to be with his family."

Streamer FaZe Lacy was left surprised when someone got in touch on one of his livestreams.

The livestream shows a shirtless man wearing bright green shorts who was walking on the sidewalk before stopping to talk to the streamers.

After someone contacted him, the streamer put a shout out on his Twitter page asking if anyone was able to corroborate the person's identity.

The post read: "3 months ago a 17 year old kid went missing and was put on homicide. Yesterday on stream he came up to me and Clix and now his family knows he is alive and in Miami.

"I wasn’t sure if i should make this public but I'm hoping somehow this helps him be found for his family."

Coleman's family also issued a public appeal to try and get him returned home safely.

A subsequent post from the account confirmed that Coleman is now waiting to head back to his family in Michigan.

It said: "We got into contact with his brother and told him what hotel he said he was staying at on stream.

"He has been found and placed in a holding cell in Miami until he gets transferred back to Michigan with his family."
