Donald Trump won’t ‘take anything off the table’ as he claims US will ‘100%’ acquire Greenland

Donald Trump isn’t backing down on his desire to absorb Greenland into the US, and in a new interview insisted he would get it eventually.

President Donald Trump has made it clear he isn’t just talking hot air when it comes to acquiring Greenland.

In a new interview, he explained that military force is an option but ultimately believes the country will eventually become a part of the US.

While speaking to NBC on Saturday (March 29), Trump again doubled down on the US eventually obtaining Greenland.

He insisted that all options were on the table when it came to making Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, a part of the US.

He said: “We’ll get Greenland. Yeah, 100 percent.

“Good possibility that we could do it without military force. I don’t take anything off the table.”

He went on to reiterate that the US’ interest in the land was tied directly to Chinese and Russian influence in the region.

He added: “You have ships sailed outside Greenland from Russia, from China, and from many other places. And we’re not going to allow things to happen that are going to be—that are going to hurt the world or the United States.”

However, the President wasn’t particularly phased as to what message annexing Greenland would send to Russia.

He said: “I don’t really think about that. I don’t really care. Greenland’s a very separate subject, very different. It’s international peace. It’s international security and strength.”

These comments echo what Trump had said earlier in the week where he insisted that this acquisition was integral to the security of the word.

Speaking in the Oval Office on March 28, he said: “We need Greenland.

“Very importantly, for international security, we have to have Greenland. It's not a question of, 'Do you think we can do without it?' We can't.

“If you look at Greenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the place, and we're not going to be able to do that. We're not relying on Denmark or anybody else to take care of that situation.”

Despite the constant talk and clear desires for the Trump administration to acquire Greenland, the people of the nation, Greenland politicians and Danish politicians have insisted the nation isn’t for sale and that they are not interested.
