After months of speculation and theories, waiting and wondering, the conversation that took place between Donald Trump and Barack Obama at Jimmy Carter's funeral has finally been revealed.

The start of 2025 brought with it lots of things; the promise of the final series of Stranger Things, the threat of a catastrophic event taking place in Japan, and - perhaps one of the most captivating moments - the question of what the hell Obama and Trump talked about on 9 January.

Footage of the two politicians went viral after the former president and soon-to-be 27th president sat next to each other at Carter's funeral, after he died at the age of 100 on 29 December, 2024.

While Obama and Trump have previously made no effort to hide their differing opinions, the Democrat and the Republican actually seemed to be getting on quite well in footage captured from the event.

The pair could be seen talking with each other and even sharing a laugh, prompting a wave of questions and speculation from viewers.

"I would love to hear the actual conversation," one person wrote online, as another quickly asked: "Any lip readers on this yet?"

Six months on, we've got the answer.

The revelation has been shared in a new book titled 2024, which has been written by political reporters Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager and Isaac Arnsdorf.

According to the book, cited by the Mail Online, the moment that sparked such interest involved Trump inviting Obama to partake in a game of golf.

The authors claim that Trump asked his predecessor to tee off with him and was 'enticing him with descriptions' of the golf courses he owns around the world - but they didn't specify whether it was this particular topic that prompted the pair to share a laugh.

Though Trump himself hasn't shared what he and Obama spoke about, he did admit after the funeral that they looked like good pals in the footage.

"It did look very friendly, I must say," he said. "I didn’t realize how friendly it looked. I saw it on your wonderful network just a little while ago before I came in and I said, 'Boy, they look like two people that like each other'."

The revelation from the new book comes after a lip reader previously attempted to figure out what the pair talked about, telling Sky News that Obama was saying something about making it 'soon' - which may align with the suggestion of playing golf together.

However, the lip reader also claimed Trump said: "I haven't got a clue."

"Big, big money," Obama allegedly replied, adding: "And you'll always get people leaving their cabin."

As for one moment where Obama was seen laughing, Trump apparently said: "Can you imagine? We are here for a tough show."
